Hawks Get Kirk Hinrich

Hooped Up | February 24, 2011

The Atlanta Hawks joined the NBA’s trading spree by acquiring guard Kirk Hinrich in a five-player deal with the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, keeping pace with earlier moves by Eastern Conference competition.

The Hawks also received Hilton Armstrong in the deal, sending point guard Mike Bibby, Maurice Evans, Jordan Crawford and a draft pick to the Wizards, Atlanta announced.

Atlanta’s acquisition comes with Thursday’s trading deadline looming and the New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets having just made traded for All Stars Carmelo Anthony and Deron Williams.

Homer News: Chicago Bulls (35-38)

Hooped Up | March 30, 2010

Gibson says he’d welcome another power forward
Amare Stoudemire rolls into town Tuesday with gaudy averages and enough trade rumors in his wake almost to be an honorary Bull. The Bulls are chasing the Raptors for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot, and Toronto’s All-Star forward, Chris Bosh, is another potential Bulls target in free agency this summer.

So is another All-Star power forward, Utah’s Carlos Boozer. All of which makes incumbent starter and revelatory rookie Taj Gibson feel how, exactly?

“I’m fine with it because you have to take it in stride, and I just look forward to getting myself better and improving,” Gibson said. “Whatever guy we get, whether it’s a power forward or shooting guard, hopefully will help our team tremendously…

Boozer, Hinrich, Tyrus Three-Way Deal Discussed

Hooped Up | July 10, 2009

Another major multi-team trade might be looming in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers,Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls having discussed a deal that would be headlined by Carlos Boozer and Kirk Hinrich, according to NBA front-office sources.

Sources stressed to ESPN.com that no deal was imminent Thursday and that both Portland and Utah are still evaluating additional trade scenarios. But two sources with knowledge of the three-team proposal confirmed that there have been substantive talks aimed at landing Boozer in Chicago, Hinrich in Portland and Tyrus Thomas in Utah.

Hooped Up | November 10, 2008

On Saturday test  revealed that Hinrich will miss three months with a torn ligament in his right thumb or if your fancy a torn ulnar collateral ligament.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Hinrich will undergo surgery on his thumb Tuesday at Rush University Medical Center. Get ready for a steady dose of a Rose / Gordon in the backcourt.

Hooped Up: Chicago Bulls 08-09 Season Preview

Hooped Up | October 25, 2008

A team-by-team preview of all 30 NBA teams heading into the 2008 – 2009 season, Hooped Up style.

Chicago Bulls
Luol got a contract to make Ben Gordon say Deng, they decided on Derrick Rose as the number one pick to steer their team to the future and hired Vinnie Del Negro as kind of a shock to everybody and are looking to rebuild.  So where does this leave this version of the Baby Bulls?  Well things can only get better for them after a 33 win season and obtaining a young floor general with gusto.

You know the Bulls want to be better when they fired Scott Skiles on Christmas day….DENG!

Projected Starters: PG - Derrick Rose / SG - Kirk Hinrich / SF - Luol Deng / PF - Drew Gooden / C -  Joakim Noah

Additions: Darius Washington, Elton Brown, Roger Powell , Omer Asik, Derrick Rose

Losses: Chris Duhon, Shannon Brown, JamesOn Curry

Projected Wins: 34+

Team Theme Song:  Common - Resurrection
Things are looking up in the City of Wind and rookie Derrick Rose is the beginning of the resurrection.

Overall
The Bulls have way too many perimeter players and lack a consistent inside presence.  However , this should be good for the baptism under fire year for Derrick Rose who they need to be good now to move ahead in the east.  Ben Gordon after contract issues placed him in limbo should be a solid sixth man and possible starter if the Hinrich at shooting guard experiment fails, Luol has that game to make you say Deng! and Joakim Noah and Drew Gooden will be solid on the frontline but will be offensively challenged.

This is a experimental year for the Bulls with more changes to come but, Derrick Rose will be fun to watch.

Wade To Chicago Trade Still Kicking?

Hooped Up | June 22, 2008

One of the hot rumors surround the upcoming NBA draft is that the Miami Heat, drafting No. 2 behind the Bulls, want Derrick Rose so badly that might be willing to trade star Dwyane Wade to Chicago for a package around that top pick.

The Chicago Tribune has reported that the Bulls could attempt to use the first pick in the draft to acquire the Chicago native. Any trade likely also would include Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich going to Miami the Bulls could trade Hinrich if they chose Rose, and Miami has long been a rumored landing spot.
