The Knicks Nab Tracy McGrady

Hooped Up | February 18, 2010

I will not promise you that this is the last Tracy McGrady trade of the day because who knows at this point.

According to ESPN, the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks have agreed on a three-way deal that will have Tracy McGrady in a Knicks uniform.

The Knicks will also get Sergio Rodriguez from Sacramento. Houston will get Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill and Jared Jeffries from New York and the right to swap first-round picks with the Knicks in 2011 as well as take on New York’s 2012 first-round pick.

Sacramento receives Houston’s Carl Landry, Joey Dorsey and New York’s Larry Hughes.

Yes sir, dem trade winds are a blowing alright!

Tracy McGrady Traded To Kings

Hooped Up | February 18, 2010

Waking up this morning the last team I expected to win the Tracy McGrady sweepstakes was the Sacramento Kings, or any other team not named the Knicks for that matter. Well after some Chai tea and some more research, there it was.

Tracy McGrady shipped off to the Kings, for guards Kevin Martin and Sergio Rodriguez, center Hilton Armstrong and forward Kenny Thomas.

The Kings also reportedly will get hard as nails forward Carl Landry, and seldom-used forward Joey Dorsey. According to ESPN.com, the dust hasn’t settled on this deal yet and the Knicks will try to acquire T-Mac from his new team.

Lets see what happens before the 3PM EST trade deadline.

Outlet Pass: Kobe’s All-Star Ankle, More STAT Rumours, Kevin Martin

Hooped Up | February 9, 2010

Kobe Bryant watched the game from the locker room after receiving treatment for a sprained left ankle. An MRI exam earlier in the day confirmed a sprain. The NBA doesn’t like its players sitting out the All-Star game, but if Bryant doesn’t play Wednesday at Utah, he probably has the option of sitting out Sunday’s game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

If he continues to stay off the court, Bryant will pocket a total of 10 days’ rest before the Lakers’ first game after the break, next Tuesday against Golden State.

Martin Out At Least A Week

Hooped Up | November 11, 2008

The story of the year so far has been injuries, injuries, Marbury and more injuries.  Since this season began, the injury bug has hit like the plague and a lot of notable players are missing in action. According to the Sacramento Bee, Kevin Martin is the latest member to join that list and will be out of the Kings line up for 7 -10 days.

Definitely not good news for the Sactown faithful.

Hooped Up: Sacramento Kings 08-09 Season Preview

Hooped Up | October 29, 2008

A team-by-team preview of all 30 NBA teams heading into the 2008 – 2009 season, Hooped Up style.

Sacramento Kings
Meet your new Sacramento Kings! Mike Bibby gone, Ron Artest gone, and Shareef Abdur Rahaim…kinda gone but on the coaching staff.  Yes, things are a changin’ for the Kings and young stars Kevin Martin and Francisco Garcia are the new faces on the billboards. Brad Miller and the re-aquired Bobby Jackson still represent the old school but it’s all about the kids.

Hey, rebuilding ain’t that bad right?

Projected Starters: PG - Beno Udrih / SG - Kevin Martin / SF - John Salmons / PF - Mikki Moore / C - Brad Miller

Additions: Jason Thompson, Donte Greene, Bobby Jackson, Bobby Brown

Losses: Ron Artest, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Anthony Johnson, Lorenzen Wright, Sean Singletary, Patrick Ewing Jr.

Projected Wins: 20+

Team Theme Song:  Arrested Development – Revolution
This team is officially on the road to change and with the deep pocket Maloofs and cap room, a revolution is happening in Sactown just give it time.

Overall
Reggie Theus has proven that he can work with young talent from his Hangtime days and he’ll be around to see this group turn things around.  Brad Miller is still one of the leagues better centers, Beno Udrih is a decent point, Mikki Moore shows flashes of goodness and John Salmons is pretty solid. Kevin Martin is a NBA star and if they can build around his skills the rebuilding process won’t be that painful.

Loud arena yes, playoffs no.

Served: Ferdandez Gets Got By Martin

Hooped Up | October 22, 2008

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

A segment dedicated to those that have been served

With this kind of Matador defense played by Rudy Ferdandez,  on Kevin “Clubber Lang” Martin. One has got to wonder if the Ferdandez seen horns instead of a mohawk on Kevin Martin’s dome as he shook him off like dandruff going to the cup.

Rudy Ferdandez, you have been served!
