Served: Collateral Damage Gets Got By Weems

Not even his own teammate Reggie Evans could avoid the sonning that Sonny Weems inflicted on the rim via a Jose Calderon lob.

Li-Ning is making welcomed waves in the shoe game and looking at their Jose Calderon signature shoes, things are only getting better.
Compared to the Li-Ning BD1 worn by Baron Davis, these kicks have a nicer flow to them. They feature a black and red colorway, with a patent leather strap along the fore foot and plastic ribbing along the sides. They also have Calderon’s number 8 on the sides with a silhouette of Calderon after he hits a three point bomb.
The fact that Calderon has his own shoe is what’s beautiful about the International appeal of the NBA.
See more of them after the jump.
Another van glorious season of NBA basketball is about to begin and Hooped Up does a quick and dirty preview of all 30 clubs.
The Raptors appear to be heading north as an organization, making few mistakes to improve their roster along the way. Cool handed GM Brian Colangelo had another productive summer adding Hedo Turkoglu, Marco Belinelli, Reggie Evans, Amir Johnson, Rasho Nesterovic and promising rookie DeMar DeRozan to the mix and on paper things look like they’ll improve in Toronto. If the Phoenix Suns trade Steve Nash to the Toronto Raptors, my chances of getting this wicked job has hope too. According to Sam Smith, the Phoenix Suns have been offered a deal by the Toronto Raptors that would have Jose Calderon, Andrea Bargnani, Anthony Parker, Jason Kopono and perhaps Jamario Moon going to the Suns. Going back to Toronto would be Nash, Leandro Barbosa and Robin Lopez.
This deal makes a lot of sense for Toronto because it would have the best player ever Canada has ever produced (sorry Bill Wennington) coming back home. Plus the Suns, might as well make a deal for a new point guard after they soured Nash by dealing his boys Diaw and Bell to the Bobcats.
As soon as they did that Nash was guaranteed to be Audi 5000 in 2010. Still Nash is a future Hall of Famer and him being traded by the Suns would not make the Phoenix faithful happy.
If this trade happens, lets hope I get that job too.
According to the National Post, the Toronto Raptors are still not sure how injured guard Jose Calderon is after he left Wednesday nights game versus the Philadelphia 76ers with a thigh injury. Calderon had an MRI on his right hamstring and will have time to rest his injury in hopes of playing against the visiting Miami Heat Sunday. Although, running around guarding Dwyane Wade with half a thigh can’t be a great idea.
During the Beijing games, Calderon missed the gold-medal game against the United States with a slight tear of the adductor muscle in his same right thigh.
Perhaps a good ole’ fashion KG taunting would help him heal faster.
When your a superstar in the league you can get away with pretty much anything, including taunting another player from end to end as Kevin Garnett did last night with Jose Calderon. At one point KG has his hands so close to Calderon’s face he could pick his nose.
This was taunting / harassment at its finest, and I’m lovin’ it!

Toronto Raptors
Could this be the Raptors team to make it into the second round since the Vincent Lamar Carter days? The Raptors addressed the need for a proven quality center by adding Jermaine O’Neal and combined with Chris Bosh, will be one of the best front court combos in the East. They locked up Jose Calderon that made the offense buzz and Andrea Bargnani has added some bulk to his frame with hopes of a redeeming 08- 09 campaign.
Projected Starters: PG - Jose Calderon / SG - Anthony Parker / SF - Jamario Moon / PF - Chris Bosh / C - Jermaine O’Neal
Additions: Jermaine O’Neal, Roko Ukic, Will Solomon, Hassan Adams, Nathan Jawai
Losses: T.J. Ford, Carlos Delfino, Rasho Nesterovic, Jorge Garbajosa, Maceo Baston, Primoz Brezec
Projected Wins: 50+
Team Theme Song: Fat Joe ft Lil Wayne – Make it Rain
The Raptors have 4 of the top 11 three point shooters (by percentage) in the league. With an established inside game that will create more open outside shots, it will rain!
Overall
With the right mix of the new inside / outside game, the Raptors have a great chance of finishing in the top half of the eastern conference. Jose Calderon and Chris Bosh should turn in all-star type numbers and if Jamario Moon or Jason Kapono can learn to score off the dribble to create offense of their own, things can only get better.
The Toronto Raptors unveiled there alternative uniforms to the public today and they look pretty wicked. Chris Bosh and Jose Calderon modeled the new black duds, which will definitely fly of the shelves especially in the T-dot.
For a trip down memory lane, here is the history of the Raptors uniforms. Gone are the days of the purple dino…Thank god!

The Raptors are once again watching the Spanish basketball federation’s actions concerning an injured player. This time it’s point guard Jose Calderon, who suffered what Toronto officials called a “strained adductor”during Spain’s Olympic quarter-final win over Croatia yesterday. Calderon had just led Spain to what turned out to be a game-breaking run to start the fourth quarter of their 72-59 victory when he left the court and did not return.
