Raptors Get Rudy Gay In Three-Way Trade

Hooped Up | January 30, 2013

rudy-gay-raptors

The Toronto Raptors have agreed in principle to acquire Memphis Grizzlies scorer Rudy Gay, according to several media reports.

In return, the Raptors would send point guard Jose Calderon and forward Ed Davis to Memphis. Source told ESPN.com that the Grizzlies would then ship Calderon to a third team, with the Detroit Pistons being the leading contender.

The trade would include Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye going to the Grizzlies in exchange for Calderon, according to the report.

Sources also told ESPN.com that Toronto will also get Grizzlies reserve centre Hamed Haddadi.

Hamed Haddadi Stuck In Iran

Hooped Up | October 13, 2010

I’m a NBA center, get me outta here!

That’s what I imagine Memphis Grizzlies big man Hamed Haddadi is saying to somebody right now in Iran, where he’s stuck there like he probably got stuck here — but with much more leg room.

The NBA season is less than two weeks away, and Haddadi is stuck in Iran trying to resolve a legal issue that has prevented him from leaving his native country.

Last season in 36 games, Haddadi averaged 1.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in a reserve role with the Grizzlies.

Hamed Haddadi Got A Really Tiny New Car

Hooped Up | November 4, 2009

If you don’t follow Hamed Haddadi (@HamedHaddadi15) on Twitter, you’re missing out dude. Not only are you missing out on following the day-to-day life of the first Persian born player to play in the NBA. But your also missing out on watching him trying to cram his 7’2″, 280 pound frame into fuel efficient vehicles.

See Haddadi pour himself into a freakin’ go kart, that hurts my knees to look at after the jump.

Hamed Haddadi: The Grizzlies Don’t Trust Me

Hooped Up | August 26, 2009

Iranian international Hamed Haddadi says he is a star of the Memphis Grizzlies but the NBA team leaves him on the bench and off the court most of the time.

Grizzlies officials don’t let me show my abilities. I have done my best every time I was called up to play for my team, but I don’t know why they don’t trust me, added Haddadi, who was the first Iranian basketball player to make it to the NBA.

Haddadi Sent To D-League

Hooped Up | November 25, 2008

The first Persian player in the NBA, center Hameed Haddadi will be sent to the D-League to get some playing time.  So far this season,  Haddadi has seen limited minutes in his historic first NBA season.

“The Grizzlies’ D-League affiliate is the Dakota Wizards in Bismarck, North Dakota, where seven-foot Iranian dudes are probably pretty scarce, according to the Memphis Flyer. The Grizzlies want to get Haddadi some game action and expect the trip to be relatively short-term, probably two to three weeks, though Haddadi could make up to two additional Dakota trips this season under league rules.

Hadaddi will be accompanied by former assistant coach and current scout Gordon Chiesa, who “discovered” him for the Grizzlies this summer at the Rocky Mountain Revue summer league.”
