Bobcats Playoff Anthem by DJ COMPLETE

Hooped Up | April 21, 2010

The Charlotte Bobcats are in the playoffs for the first time EVER and they already have a playoff anthem that actually sounds aight. If Boris Diaw can make francophone remix to this little ditty, we’ll be talking international gold Jerry.

But first, the Bobcats should concentrate on getting new road uniforms that don’t look so expansion-ish. Right now those blue with white pin stripe uni’s say “hello, our franchise never existed before Justin Bieber “hit” songs”.

Homer News: Charlotte Bobcats (34-32)

Hooped Up | March 17, 2010

Charlotte Bobcats’ win streak is halted against Pacers
Gerald Wallace saw this one coming, even before he stepped into the Charlotte Bobcats’ locker room following the upset of the Orlando Magic Sunday, Wallace turned to a reporter and said, “It’s Indiana I worry about.”

He had cause to worry. There’s a pattern to these things — beat a great team, lose to a lousy one – and they were true to their history this season in a 99-94 loss to the Indiana Pacers that wasn’t as close as the final score suggests.

They did themselves in by flubbing the little things, committing 19 turnovers and missing 11 free throws. They were down 15, cut the deficit to three in the final 20 seconds, and then the last of those turnovers – a bad pass by Boris Diaw – robbed them of what could have been a tying possession.

So a franchise-best six-game winning streak is history…

Much like every single album that has come out in the last 10 years, the 2010 all-star reserves list has been leaked and Yahoo! Sports has obtained the list to be reveled Thursday night in their NBA logo sports mug.

The Eastern Conference reserves include Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo from the Boston Celtics, Toronto’s Chris Bosh, Charlotte’s Gerald Wallace, Chicago’s Derrick Rose and Atlanta’s Joe Johnson and Al Horford.

The Western Conference reserves include Utah’s Deron Williams, New Orleans’ Chris Paul, Los Angeles Pau Gasol, Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant, Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki , Zach Randolph from Memphis and Brandon Roy from the Portland Trail Blazers.

David Lee, Carlos Boozer, Marc Gasol, Josh Smith, Chris Kaman, Monta Ellis and Chauncey Bilups will all have to wait for next season.

Crash Could Miss Some Time

Hooped Up | January 28, 2009

The Charlotte Bobcats once again proved they are giant killers by beating the Lakers 110 – 117 last night. But they also proved that Gerald Wallace is an injury machine too and he could miss some time…again.

“The Bobcats wasted a nine-point fourth-quarter lead, missing four straight free throws down the stretch. But the real loss might be small forward Gerald Wallace, who suffered a rib injury on a vicious hip-check by Lakers center Andrew Bynum. Bynum’s flagrant foul came as Wallace drove the lane with 2 minutes, eight seconds left in the fourth quarter. Wallace had to be helped to the locker room and didn’t return. Lakers star Kobe Bryant (38 points) hit two quick baskets in the first overtime before fouling out with 39 seconds left while defending Bobcats guard Shannon Brown.”

Wallace To Minnesota Talk Is Bogus

Hooped Up | December 9, 2008

Rod Higgins totally, won’t trade Gerald Wallace to the Timberwolves because it would harsh his mellow.

“That trade rumor of recent vintage – Gerald Wallace to the Minnesota Timberwolves for two expiring contracts ( Jason Collins and Rashad McCants) is totally bogus, according to Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins. Beyond it making little sense – you’d dump a core player for nothing but salary-cap relief? – Higgins said it’s never even been discussed. He said he’s never had a conversation with the T’Wolves involving Wallace.”

Hooped Up: Charlotte Bobcats 08-09 Season Preview

Hooped Up | October 26, 2008

A team-by-team preview of all 30 NBA teams heading into the 2008 – 2009 season, Hooped Up style.

Charlotte Bobcats
When he’s on the level, Larry Brown can turn water into wine and could probably coach your mothers bridge club to the NBA playoffs.  Over the summer Emeka Okafor got paid and now has to prove he’s worth it, Adam “Porn Stache” Morrison and Sean May will get another crack at silencing the critics, the still explosive Jason Richardson will take and make more three’s then anyboody, Raymond Felton and DJ Augustin will find out just how demanding Larry Brown can be on his point guards and Gerald Wallace will try to stay healthy to give his athletic contribution.

Can Larry Brown be the difference maker?

Projected Starters: PG - Raymond Felton / SG - Jason Richardson / SF - Gerald Wallace / PF - Sean May / C -  Emeka Okafor

Additions:  Shannon Brown, D.J. Augustin, Alexis Ajinca

Losses: Earl Boykins, Derek Anderson, Othella Harrington, Kyle Weaver

Projected Wins: 35+

Team Theme Song:  Thin Lizzy- The Boys Are Back In Town
After Micheal Jordan added Larry Brown as the coach of the Bobcats, the North Carolina boys are officially back in town.

Overall
This team still has a lot to work on and this Larry Brown experiment can go really well, or really bad.  If the team buys into what Larry Brown is teaching they will grow.  If the team tunes him out which happens with his demanding style, things will go bad quickly. If the Bobcats can stay healthy which is a stretch, this might be the most competitve Bobcats team yet.

But with Larry Brown you never know these days, it will be interesting to see if his style has officially run its course.

Gerald Wallace On The Block

Hooped Up | July 14, 2008

Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace wasn’t surprised his name was in trade discussions. In fact, he figures most every name on the roster is in play. The Bobcats talked to the Toronto Raptors leading up to the draft about a deal that could have involved Wallace and then-Raptors point guard T.J. Ford. The Raptors instead moved Ford to the Indiana Pacers in a deal for Jermaine O’Neal.
