Homer News: Charlotte Bobcats (34-32)

Hooped Up | March 17, 2010

Charlotte Bobcats’ win streak is halted against Pacers
Gerald Wallace saw this one coming, even before he stepped into the Charlotte Bobcats’ locker room following the upset of the Orlando Magic Sunday, Wallace turned to a reporter and said, “It’s Indiana I worry about.”

He had cause to worry. There’s a pattern to these things — beat a great team, lose to a lousy one – and they were true to their history this season in a 99-94 loss to the Indiana Pacers that wasn’t as close as the final score suggests.

They did themselves in by flubbing the little things, committing 19 turnovers and missing 11 free throws. They were down 15, cut the deficit to three in the final 20 seconds, and then the last of those turnovers – a bad pass by Boris Diaw – robbed them of what could have been a tying possession.

So a franchise-best six-game winning streak is history…

The Eastern Conference reserves include Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo from the Boston Celtics, Toronto’s Chris Bosh, Charlotte’s Gerald Wallace, Chicago’s Derrick Rose and Atlanta’s Joe Johnson and Al Horford.

The Western Conference reserves include Utah’s Deron Williams, New Orleans’ Chris Paul, Los Angeles Pau Gasol, Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant, Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki , Zach Randolph from Memphis and Brandon Roy from the Portland Trail Blazers.

David Lee, Carlos Boozer, Marc Gasol, Josh Smith, Chris Kaman, Monta Ellis and Chauncey Bilups will all have to wait for next season.

Charlotte Bobcats ‘09-10 Season Preview

Hooped Up | October 21, 2009

Another van glorious season of NBA basketball is about to begin and Hooped Up does a quick and dirty preview of all 30 clubs.

Head coach Larry Brown is known for making a non contender a playoff bound team, and that’s exactly what he’ll try to do again in his second year in Charlotte. The Bobcats made a big move this summer trading Emeka Okafor for the more athletic Tyson Chandler, but will that be enough for the Bobcats to finally make it into the playoffs for the first time? Probably not. Read More »

Sean Marks is from New Zealand so don’t you ever dare call him an Aussie! It’s cool to call him a Kiwi, but for the next few hours lets just called him served, thanks to Gerald Wallace.

Crikey!

Karma Is A Knee Injury Bynum

Hooped Up | February 1, 2009

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Earlier today, karma paid a visit to Lakers center Andrew Bynum as what seemed like an ordinary play could have turned into losing Bynum for the season…again. Just about 7 minutes into the 1 quarter of the Lakers versus Grizzlies match, Kobe Bryant drove to the hoop for a layup, lost his footing on his landing and fell directly into Andrew Bynums right leg really hard.

After Bynum hit the deck you could hear him screaming in pain ala Gerald Wallace  Read More »

Wallace Released From Hospital

Hooped Up | January 31, 2009

After suffering a partially collapsed lung and fractured rib earlier this week, at the hands or elbow of Andrew Bynum. According to the National Post, Gerald Wallce has been released from the Hospital yesterday, but he still must get clearance from a cardio-thoracic surgeon before flying. The earliest that could happen is during a Monday examination.

Wallace was leveled by Andrew Bynum Thursday night in what proved to be a  117-110 Bobcats upset victory but what appeared as a fine worth flagrant foul, the NBA deemed otherwise and Bynum was not be fined despite the Bobcats protest.

Check out the play for yourself after the jump and decide for yourself. I say, book him Danno!

Crash Could Miss Some Time

Hooped Up | January 28, 2009

The Charlotte Bobcats once again proved they are giant killers by beating the Lakers 110 – 117 last night. But they also proved that Gerald Wallace is an injury machine too and he could miss some time…again.

“The Bobcats wasted a nine-point fourth-quarter lead, missing four straight free throws down the stretch. But the real loss might be small forward Gerald Wallace, who suffered a rib injury on a vicious hip-check by Lakers center Andrew Bynum. Bynum’s flagrant foul came as Wallace drove the lane with 2 minutes, eight seconds left in the fourth quarter. Wallace had to be helped to the locker room and didn’t return. Lakers star Kobe Bryant (38 points) hit two quick baskets in the first overtime before fouling out with 39 seconds left while defending Bobcats guard Shannon Brown.”

Served: Oden Gets Got By Wallace

Hooped Up | January 20, 2009

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Gerald “Crash” Wallace had a huge night last Saturday versus the Blazers with a line of 31 points and 16 rebounds, to help secure a 102 – 97 Bobcats win but this dunk was the show stopper. Wallace had to climb like a Sherpa on this 50-50 ball to dunk on the world of Greg Oden and my damn, did this look nasty!!!

Is Greg Oden a bust??? Maybe… Did he get got?

OH YEEEAH!!!
