Wizard Offer Oberto A Contract

The Washington Wizards have made a contract offer to former Spurs center , traded to the Detroit Pistons as part of the package that brought to the Spurs in a three-team, pre-draft trade with the Milwaukee Bucks last month.

Terms of Washington’s offer to Oberto aren’t known. He was released by the Pistons after the deal was completed.

Detroit remains obligated to pay $1.9 million of Oberto’s partially guaranteed $3.8 million contract.

Bucks Richard Jefferson Traded To Spurs

Two league sources confirm that Milwaukee and San Antonio have agreed to the framework of a deal that would send Richard Jeffersonto San Antonio for ,  andFabricio Oberto. A source said the two sides are working toward setting up a trade call with the NBA for late Tuesday.

The Bucks are sending Jefferson away less than a year after acquiring the scoring forward in a draft day trade last season for Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons. Jefferson’s contract has two years and $29.2 million remaining on it.

Bowen, Thomas and Oberto give the Bucks a veteran group and financial flexibility. None are signed beyond the upcoming season.

San Antonio Spurs
The team that has cornered the market on winning big games will continue to do so this season.  They didn’t really add anything crazy to the 08-09 version of the Spurs but you don’t mess with excellence. They have , , , and the Greg Popovich system and that has been enough in the past.

Is it enough now though?

Hate on these guys all you want! When it comes down to it, they are the measure of success in the league and you got to go through them in the west to make your bones. is maybe the best power forward to play the game and another great year from him will be on tap. is an all-star point guard and when Ginobili is healthy he will provide his effective inside outside style to this squad. The rest of this cast knows it role and fills it to near perfection under Pop’s direction and know what team ball is. 

These guys are always in the championship picture and this year is no different.
