Hooped Up

Once again Nicolas Batum made his Euroleague mark with a brilliant performance over previously unbeaten Caja Laboral (90-85) for SLUC Nancy. Similar to their last home win, Batum was the star of the show and earned Week 4 bwin MVP honors.

Batum had a statline of 21 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, a block and a performance index rating of 35. Plus he played all 40 minutes. Batum also becomes the first player to win the weekly MVP award twice this season.

21 points, 5 assist, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block in 31 minutes of work against Euroleague powerhouse Fenerbahce.  Confirms everything that you’ve all ready known about Deron Williams having an internationally sick game.

Jordan Farmar delivered his finest performance to date since joining Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv over the summer to lead the Israeli champs to an 88-82 victory over Real Madrid and earn Week 3 bwin MVP honors.

In a highly-anticipated showdown against the team Macccabi bested in the semifinals at last season’s Final Four in Barcelona, Farmar came through using his speed, shot making ability and ball handling skills to post big numbers.

Farmar finished with 27 points on 9-of-11 two-point shooting, made his only three-point attempt, and added 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 8 fouls drawn for a performance index rating of 35, which was best in the Euroleague this week.

Euroleague

Last week in his first home game with Nancy of the Euroleague, Nicolas Batum help his team to a 87-73 win over Bizkaia Bilbao Basket. Batum finished the game with a near triple-double tallying 26 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, plus 2 steals for good measure.

Like last week when Andrei Kirilenko finished with the highest index rating and won week 1 MVP honours. Batum finished with the highest performance index rating of 36 and won the award for week 2. I sense a trend happening.

Like the man with no name from a Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western. Benetton Treviso gun for hire Brian Scalabrine lights up Avellino of the Euroleague for 18 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal in 34 minutes of work — and it wasn’t even in garbage time!

For the first ever B.Scal highlights I’ve ever witnessed, he definitely went H.A.M or at least Prosciutto on Avellino.

Since Reggie Williams signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with Caja Laboral Vitoria of the Spanish League that includes a $1 million buyout. I have no idea how he’s been doing in the Euroleague. However I know that he’s created at least one poster with the help of some nameless player (lets call him sucker) from CAI Zaragoza.
