David Lee Is Getting Frustrated

Hooped Up | March 6, 2010

David Lee is getting tired of playing center for the Knicks and I’m getting tired of watching him play center for the Knicks. Despite finishing with a more than respectable statline of 23 points and 18 rebounds against the Chris Bosh-less Raptors Friday, the outcome was all too familiar — a loss.

“I’m doing my best down there at 6-9 to contest shots,” Lee said. “I’m going to try to do better, control the paint better. A lot of times I’m playing a guy 5 inches bigger than I am and 50 pounds heavier. It’s something I can definitely get better at. We have 21 games left and I’ll be at the ‘five’ and see what happens. I’m doing all I can do.”

With one more loss the New York Knicks will secure their ninth straight non-winning season and by playing Lee at the center position it’s only a matter of time. However on a bright note, Eddy Curry who has been sidelined since Dec.17th  is scheduled to make a return — again and could see some minutes at the center spot as early as tonight against the New Jersey Nets.

Curry To Miss Six Weeks After Knee Surgery

Hooped Up | January 18, 2010

Eddy Curry is expected to miss about six weeks after knee surgery, the latest setback for the injury-plagued Knicks center.

The Knicks said Curry will have an arthroscopic procedure on Monday to remove loose cartilage in his left knee. He will begin rehabilitation within a week.

Curry has played only seven games in another lost season. The Knicks kept him sidelined at the beginning of the season so he could work on his conditioning, but once he returned he quickly fell out of the rotation.

Another extended absence probably ruins any faint hopes the Knicks have of trading Curry. He will earn $11.3 million next season, and the team would like to deal him to free up salary cap space.

The Knicks Stayed In A Haunted Hotel

Hooped Up | January 13, 2010

The Knicks were afraid, very afraid. And it had nothing to do with the Oklahoma City Thunder. For two days, several players had trouble sleeping because they were convinced that their downtown hotel is haunted. ”I definitely believe it,”Jared Jeffries said. “The place is haunted. It’s scary.” Eddy Curry claims he slept for only two hours Sunday night because he couldn’t stop thinking about ghosts roaming the hotel.

For years, guests staying at the Skirvin Hilton have reported ghost sightings and strange noises. Legend has it that sometime in the 1930s, a woman jumped to her death while holding her baby in her hands.

Eddy Curry Loses Weight

Hooped Up | August 11, 2009

As a matter of principal, I say you should never get credit for something you’re supposed to do and that principal still applies to the news of Eddy Curry losing more weight.

Eddy Curry has been in Ocean City, N.J. since Aug. 1 to continue his offseason regimen with his trainers, Jerry Powell and Tommy Weatherspoon. According to multiple sources, the Knicks will find that Curry is down another 10 pounds since they saw him in Las Vegas last month, when the embattled center spent two days working out with the summer league team.

The best thing about this story is that Eddy Curry is listed at 285 pounds because that hasn’t been true since Roland Regan was in office.

Knicks Order Eddy Curry To Summer League

Hooped Up | July 10, 2009

Eddy Curry has been ordered by the Knicks to report to the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas so that team president Donnie Walsh and his staff can monitor the progress of Curry’s offseason diet and conditioning program, according to Jerry Powell, one of Curry’s offseason trainers.

Curry will not play for the Knicks summer league team but is expected to be on the court for the second workout of a two-a-day session Sunday at Valley High in Las Vegas, where the Knicks will work out before their summer league opener Tuesday at UNLV.

Powell says Curry, [...] has lost almost 50 pounds. ”They want to see what he looks like,” Powell told Newsday. “They want to see him get up and down with the summer league team and practice.”

There is good reason. The 6-11 Curry, who three years ago displayed all-star potential, ballooned to well more than 300 pounds this past season, when weight and conditioning issues caused him to miss 80 of the 82-game schedule.

Curry’s Ex-Girlfriend Murdered

Hooped Up | January 26, 2009

Eddy Curry’s season took a tragic turn this weekend with news of his former girlfriend and mother of one of his kids was found murdered this weekend in Chicago.

“On Saturday, Curry’s former girlfriend, the mother of his 3-year-old son, was found shot to death in her Chicago apartment. A relative found the bodies of Nova Henry, 24, and her 9-month-old daughter, Ava, according to Chicago police. Curry’s son was found unharmed at the scene. Curry has four children with his wife, Patrice. [...] ”I can’t imagine what he’s going through,” said Rick Brunson, Curry’s friend and former teammate with the Chicago Bulls. “He’s always been one of my favorites. He’s just a big, joyful kid.”

Curry is expected to return home to Chicago for Henry’s funeral, but a team source indicated that Curry will be with the Knicks for tonight’s home game against the Houston Rockets.”

Just when the strange Marbury news slowed up in New York, the Eddy Curry “Come and touch it, Dave” gay sex scandal officially took the spotlight late Monday.  According to the New York Post, Curry was served with a sexual harassment suit by his former chauffeur David Kuchinsky, who claims Curry tried to get him to to the Man-Man on several occasions.

Boozer To The Knicks?

Hooped Up | November 26, 2008

All this cap responsible talk of the Knicks into 2010, makes me think they’re the Oakland A’s all of a sudden and Billy Beane is the secret GM. That being said, could they sign Boozer too?

“One league executive said the Knicks’ chances of signing LeBron James will hinge on whether they can add another star player before the summer of 2010 or a attract a second free agent in 2010 as a package. Carlos Boozer is a free agent this summer and the Knicks would have room if they trade Eddy Curry by February for an expiring contract.”
