The Toronto Raptors have agreed in principle to acquire Memphis Grizzlies scorer Rudy Gay, according to several media reports.

In return, the Raptors would send point guard Jose Calderon and forward Ed Davis to Memphis. Source told ESPN.com that the Grizzlies would then ship Calderon to a third team, with the Detroit Pistons being the leading contender.

The trade would include Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye going to the Grizzlies in exchange for Calderon, according to the report.

Sources also told ESPN.com that Toronto will also get Grizzlies reserve centre Hamed Haddadi.

Nice to see someone left-handed smashing dunks in the ACC paint like that other lefty Raptors power forward that use to do that last season. Ed Davis brought the Toronto crowd back to days of yesteryear with this dunk on Brandon Bass like it was 2009 when left-handed facials happened all the time.

The Time Warner Cable Arena where the Charlotte Bobcats play, sure seems like an excellent place for one to get some quiet time. You would think this massive 2-4-1 dunk Raptors rookie Ed Davis had on Nazr Nazr Mohammed and Gerald Wallace would cause a reaction in this big library, but nope. Not a peep. It’s almost creepy.

The Ed Davis era in Toronto is off to a bumpy and arthroscopic like start, despite the season still being more than a month away.

Last week, the Raptors top draft pick selected with the 13th overall pick suffered an injury in a pick up game in Mississauga, ON and Monday he underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee at Sunnybrook Hospital.

In an official statement, team doctors expect Ed Davis to be sidelined for up to six weeks.

The Raptors open training camp Sept. 28.
