Jefferson Suspend 2 Games After DUI Arrest

Hooped Up | February 28, 2010

It’s been a bad weekend for NBA ballers and a good one for the law. This morning Al Jefferson of the Minnesota Timberwolves was arrested and charged with fourth degree driving while impaired.

Jefferson was arrested at 1:08 AM by the State Patrol and booked into Hennepin County Jail shortly around an hour later. He was released at 3:19 AM, according to jail records.

“We are disappointed that Al used poor judgment last night. Thankfully, nobody was injured,” David Kahn, the team’s president for basketball operations, said in a statement. “We believe it is appropriate for Al to be suspended for the next two games without pay.”

Jefferson was initially pulled over for speeding and field sobriety and blood tests were taken.

Popeye Jones Arrested And Tuned Up

Hooped Up | November 3, 2009

Damn! Former Dallas Mavericks player and current assistant coach Popeye Jones was arrested on Sunday and accused of drunken driving in Richardson and judging by this picture — my man got tuned the hell up by One Time too! According, to Richardson Police Department public information officer Jonathan Wakefield, this is how things went down.

At about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Richardson police received calls from other motorists, who reported that someone was driving erratically in a gray GMC Yukon. When police pulled Jones over in the 100 block of South Greenville Avenue, Jones declined a breathalyzer test and briefly resisted arrest. When police finally corralled Jones, he lost his balance and fell to the pavement, receiving minor cuts on his face.

Riiiiiight. How the hell do you briefly resist being arrested anyway? Isn’t that like kinda being pregnant? Richardson Po-Po says that Jones won’t be charged with briefly resisting or resiting arrest, but I’ll bet that Popeye’s lawyers are eating some spinach to even the score as we speak.

Zach Randolph Busted For DUI

Hooped Up | April 6, 2009

Early this morning Zach Randolph was thrown in jail after he was booked for DUI.

“Hours after the Clip Squad went down to the Lakers last night, Clipper power forward Zach Randolph was pulled over by California Highway Patrol officers on the 405 Freeway when they spotted Randolph’s white Rolls Royce weaving in and out of his lane at around 2:25 AM.

Cops say when they approached the car, they “noticed an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from within the vehicle” and proceeded to perform some field tests on the 6′9,” 255 pound 27-year-old. Randolph failed those and was arrested for DUI.”

According to TMZ, he has now been released from jail.

Gabe Pruitt Busted for DUI

Hooped Up | February 26, 2009

Last night the Celtics lost to the LA Clippers 93-91 and nobody saw that coming, even the Clippers. A few hours later, the Celtics got another surprise when Gabe Pruitt got booked for DUI.

“Pruitt, a member of the Boston Celtics, was pulled over around 3:15 AM in the Hollywood area. Sources tell TMZ Pruitt failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level well over the legal limit.

He was taken to a local jail and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence. His bail was $5,000.”

I’m guessing this probably won’t help Pruitt’s already slim playing time.
