Duhon Will Start Again

Hooped Up | February 8, 2010

New Orleans native Chris Duhon showed up to Knicks practice in his Drew Brees’ Saints jersey, but decided not to wear it on the court. Duhon is back as the Knicks’ starting quarterback and they need that Brees magic.

Mike DAntoni confirmed today Duhon will return as starting point guard with Nate Robinson going back to the bench in a shooting-guard role. The N8 experimented lasted two games, with the Knicks losing both, to Milwaukee and Cleveland. Robinson sat out of practice to rest his strained groin – perhaps for the Slam-Dunk Contest Saturday.

The Post reported in today’s editions the change was to take place and that Duhon and D’Antoni had a significant meeting Saturday in the Cleveland team hotel to get back on the same page as the coach sought input from his captain on how to change the club’s fortunes around.

“I think Nate is better as an off guard,” D’Antoni said. “He understands that. I think the team functions a little bit better with a true point.”

Served: A Few Duhon Alley Oops Get Got

Hooped Up | January 29, 2010

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

These days Chris Duhon couldn’t hit the side of a red barn with a tractor. It’s a good thing his passing game doesn’t need to much realignment like his shot. Both of these alley oops to Nate Robinson and Wilson Chandler were kinda live.

See Nate Robinson slam below.

Hooped Up | October 12, 2009

Another van glorious season of NBA basketball is about to begin and Hooped Up does a quick and dirty preview of all 30 clubs — so lets go!

The torment and torture of being a Knicks fan could end in the summer of 2010, if they’re able to sign a big name free agent like unknown LeBron James, but unless the Knicks bump into Doc Brown and gun it to 2010 today. Expect to see a high powered offence that produces the opposite of wins in 09-10. Read More »

Outlet Pass: No Sheed, LeBronathon + Duhon

Hooped Up | March 16, 2009

“Rasheed Wallace is doubtful for the Pistons’ upcoming Texas swing this week. The power foward strained his calf muscle last Monday against Orlando and has missed the team’s last two games — he won’t dress for today’s match-up against the Memphis Grizzlies, either.”

Weezy Speaks On The Knicks

Hooped Up | October 21, 2008

Stephon Marbury will not be sending any Purple Drank over to Lil’ Wayne’s picnic table the next time the two are ever at a BBQ together.  Why you ask? Well Lil’ Wayne is a supporter of fellow Louisiana born Chris Duhon and it just so happens that Chris Duhon is the very same man that will be making Marbury a memory in New York.

On Weezy’s blog over at ESPN Magazine, when asked about the Knickerbockers chances this season he had this to say in his response.

Duhon Ready For Captain Role

Hooped Up | October 20, 2008

If the newest Knick Chris Duhon is named team captain of the Knicks heading into the 08-09 season, he will officially be teachers pet to Mike D’Antoni.

“Chris Duhon, the starting point guard, feels playing the role of a captain is part of his Knicks New York Knicks destiny, calling himself the team’s “general.” It is likely Duhon will be named a captain soon after the season begins, even though he’s newest to the club.

“I think that’s the job of the point guard,” Duhon told The Post. “The point guard is the coach on the floor, the quarterback. You put everybody in their right position, understanding what the coaches want. Whether labeled captain or not, when we’re on the court, that’s my team.”

Duhon Is A Knick

Hooped Up | July 5, 2008

Unless the Knicks are moving Robinson, this move is suspect! Who is the back up PG in New York?  Marbury has only averaged 7.8 dimes his career and if Nate Robinson could pass to himself all game long he would, averaging 2.2 his career.  D’Antoni’s system calls for a guard that can distribut the rock and if you are paying Marbury anyway, why not have him quarterback your team for the season.  Duhon could only learn from this.

If Nash can improve then surely Marbury could under D’Antoni’s system…what’s the worst that can happen?  Marbury plays well and you can finally move his contract mid-season. Duhon is a back up to Marbury and a Robinson is a not a point guard at all.  What are the Knicks doing?

Chris Duhon has agreed to a two-year deal with the Knicks, paving the way for the franchise to cut ties with Stephon Marbury, their troublesome starting point guard.

Whether Marbury will be traded, bought out of his contract or simply waived is yet to be determined. But people with close ties to Donnie Walsh, the team president, and Coach Mike D’Antoni consider Marbury’s departure a near certainty.

Knicks Make Bid For Chris Duhon

Hooped Up | July 2, 2008

Bulls backup point guard Chris Duhon, during a visit to the Knicks’ Westchester campus on Day 1 of free agency yesterday, met with coach Mike D’Antoni and was offered a two-year contract believed to be more than $7 million, according to league sources.

Duhon was mulling the offer last night and could accept as soon as today.

The Knicks have proclaimed they do not want to go beyond two years on any signing so as not to compromise their chances of getting under the salary cap in 2010. That amount is a good chunk of the annual $5.5 million mid-level exception.
