This weekend I got sick and watched the World Cup. While Carmelo Anthony married Lala Vazquez at Cipriani restaurant in New York for their weekend in front of 320 guests. Polar opposites is the word you are now searching for to describe my weekend vs. Melo’s.

Celebrity ballers and entertainment shot calls were attendance for the love union like LeBron James (boo!), Spike Lee, Serena Williams, Ciara, Kim Kardashian, Amare Stoudemire, Ludacris and Kelly Rowland.

Your wife / girlfriend will be glad to know that Anthony added 2 1/2-more carats with two matching wedding bands, worth about $200,000, to the 8-carat cushion-cut diamond ring he proposed to Vazquez with five years ago.

Via Twitter, Vazquez tweeted “Best night of my entire life. Thank u to all my family and friends who shared tonight with me. I love u. I’m on cloud 9 right now … ”

Kiyan their 3-year-old son walked them down the aisle.

Carmelo Anthony doesn’t hit the free agent market for another year but could land a big contract extension from the Denver Nuggets this summer.

Anthony told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday that he is mulling a three-year extension from the Nuggets worth about US$65 million. Anthony is under contract for 2010-11 and would be the prize of next year’s free agent class if he doesn’t sign a new deal in Denver before then.

The Nuggets aren’t commenting on the report and Anthony’s agent, Leon Rose, didn’t return a message from The Associated Press.

Anthony averaged 28.2 points and 6.6 rebounds last season but the Nuggets were eliminated by Utah in the first round of the playoffs.

Five legendary NBA ballers came to challenge Ricardo the Busboy at Pop-a-Shot on Jimmy Kimmel Live Gamenight, and each time they fell to his greatness. Ricardo Reyes is a 41-year old busboy at Barney’s Beanery who was discovered by Kimmel after a night on the town, and became a show regular laying waste to pro ballers shortly thereafter.

After taking out Carmelo Anthony to defend his title of “Pop-a-Shot King” for the fifth time. Kimmel presented Reyes with a brand spanking new 2011 red Ford Mustang for his efforts. Good stuff Jimmy!

Yesterday I threw down the best-est 1080 dunk you’ve ever seen outside of a video game and the police immediately gave me a ticket for being way awesome. I could fight this ticket at City Hall however, that would mean that I’m appealing awesomeness — and that can’t happen.

The sad thing is that my BETA camcorder didn’t catch any of this amazing footage I planned to share with you today so instead you’ll have to settle for watching the Top 10 NBA dunks of the year instead.

Oh well, next time I’ll use trusty VHS.

This play is just plain odd. After Carmelo Anthony hits the deck in what looks like a head / neck injury. Play just continues like nothing even happened for two possessions before anybody on the court even cares about Melo laying motionless on the court.

Apparently the refs in their infinite wisdom decided to call Anthony’s “injury bluff” and decided to do nothing until finally his limp body was in the way of play. Ultimately Melo was okay after getting check out by team doctors in the locker room, but maybe next time the refs shouldn’t pick the worst time possible to make a non-call. WTF!

Carmelo Anthony has been on fire this season and so has his fiancée La La Vazquez who is on the cover of April’s Issue of Latina Magazine.  Besides looking all 10’s on the cover, La La also does an interview addresses things like her career, upcoming wedding to Melo and starring in 50 Cent’s new movie “The Gun”.

For 47 minutes the Toronto Raptors controlled Denver Nuggets, then just before the 48th minute. Carmelo Anthony hit a game winner with less than a second left to give Denver a 97-96 victory.

BTW, Carmelo Anthony has the highest percentage for game winning shots in the NBA.

For the season, Andersen has averaged 6.4 rebounds per game (just 0.3 less than Carmelo Anthony), and while Birdman was 44th in the league in rebounding average, he was 22nd in rebounds per 48 minutes (13.6)…

Where’d the O go?
I’m not sure where the Nuggets offense went, it might be loss in Houston or Memphis but it is definitely not in Denver. The Nuggets haven’t broken 100 points for the third straight game Saturday and this one cost them a W. Of course it is easy to see what went wrong with this, there were three ball hogs who didn’t see a need to pass the ball.

Yes, we hear the same old thing from the team after every game. They lacked intensity, they weren’t ready to play, they had no energy. Yep, we’ve heard every excuse in the books from this squad. When will they learn to play with intensity? When will they get the energy? There is no question this squad, when healthy, is pretty much unstoppable. And it hurts seeing K-Mart and Ty Lawson in street clothes on the bench and it’s rough not seeing George Karl not coaching and knowing what he went through…

Carter has gone out in tight situations in the 3rd & 4th Quarters and sparked big-time, game-changing scoring sprees with his team behind on the scoreboard. He has played stellar defense against some very talented guards, and his three-point shooting just hit 30% accuracy for the month of March. Anthony is stretching defenses (a little), penetrating the lane (mostly with accurate passes), and changing the course of NBA basketball games.

Unexpected as it may be, Anthony Carter is enjoying a sort of Renaissance… the sort of Renaissance a career backup has when his team really, really needs him. He even added some extra ink in the past few years to match the tattoo flavor of the neo-Nuggets. What more can you ask for from a teammate?
