Spurs Making A Run At Magette Again?

Hooped Up | July 3, 2008

All of a sudden Corey Magettte is the prettiest girl at the high school dance.  The latest team looking to court the swingman is the San Antonio Spurs.  My question is, why don’t the Clippers just become apart of the NBDL farm system.  I know Baron Davis is on board but, this club is always hemorrhaging young talent over and over again.

Two seasons after the Spurs unsuccessfully tried to trade for Corey Maggette, they appear to be trying to recruit him. According to two NBA sources, one in the Western Conference and one in the East, the Spurs are preparing to make an offer to Maggette, who became an unrestricted free agent Tuesday when he opted out of the final year of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Sneaky Dees Nachos Are That Good!

Hooped Up | June 25, 2008

Matt Bonner a.k.a The Red Rocket, just gained some major cool points with Hooped Up.  Being married isn’t a drag okay possibly for some but,  that day can be a circus and the groom is the unicycle riding bear.  No worries, the ex-Toronto Raptors forward Matt Bonner has the answer to your problem. Sneaky Dee’s son!

“If it was me, we’d get married at, I don’t know, Sneaky Dee’s,” said Bonner, speaking of the College Street rock-and-nachos dive. “But you know how it is, the guy doesn’t have much say about the wedding day. We don’t grow up dreaming about our wedding. It’s her day. I understand that. Girls like nice flowers and stuff.”

Ball Don’t Lie

If you are ever in Toronto,ON and are a nacho fiend, Sneaky Dee’s is the spot!

Lovebirds, Eva Longoria and Tony Parker have a new place to call home. The couple have recently purchased a massive $7 million mansion in San Antonio, Texas.

The luxurious casa has a Mediterranean-inspired design and stands on a secluded 2.3 acre plot in a guarded gated community. Eva and her hubby had the house exclusively built for them, and includes a guest house, basketball court, tennis court, volleyball court, pool, and over 10,000 square feet of living space.

Manu Ginobili Doubtful For Olympics

Hooped Up | June 20, 2008

The big story of these Olympics are injuries to the key players from each country. So many international stars have ended the NBA season limping.  Manu Ginobili might be the latest causality.

Emanuel Ginobili said on Wednesday an ankle injury had put in jeopardy his appearance at the Beijing Olympics for the Argentinian men’s basketball team which is defending its title.

San Antonio Spurs’ Ginobili, speaking at a press conference in Buenos Aires, said: “The ankle injury is more serious than I thought. I will need three weeks of tests but I feel my participation in the Olympic Games is in danger.”

Curtains For Cheap Shot Bob?

Hooped Up | June 2, 2008

Before Robert Horry started to be a cheap shot artist, he was a force to be reckoned with in the clutch.  Now he just body’s people and kind of just takes up space on the court.  If he hung them up though today, it would not have been a bad career overall looking back.

Spurs’ forward Robert Horry has not yet decided whether he is going to retire or play on next season, according to a report by the Associated Press.

“Right now I’m up in the air,” Horry said. “That’s all I can really tell you, up in the air. I want to play, 80% of me wants to play, and I’m sure as soon as I get in the gym and see people bouncing the ball it would turn into 100%. So we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”

Barry Back To Spurs

Hooped Up | February 29, 2008

Brent Barry will not be playing for Phoenix. Suns General Manager Steve Kerr said the 36-year-old guard told him tonight that he chose San Antonio over Phoenix, as well as suitors like Boston, Dallas and Houston. Barry cleared waivers Tuesday after being traded by San Antonio last week to Seattle, which released him Friday to set off a week of recruiting.
