Shaq Twitter Imposter Uncovered

Hooped Up | November 20, 2008

LMAO! Fake Twitter Shaq found…ttyl

“Shaquille O’Neal had a problem. An Internet impostor using his name was sending messages to unsuspecting Shaq fans. So O’Neal did what any sensible, 7-foot-1, muscle-bound mammoth would do. He started tweeting. The faux Shaqaccount was discovered last week by Sports Media Challenge, a consulting firm that works with O’Neal. Kathleen Hessert, the firm’s owner, was initially thrilled. She had been pushing O’Neal to Twitter with fans. She found the oddball references to the Pythagorean theorem and the Big Cactus to be veryShaq-like. “It was a very good impersonation,” Hessert said. A closer inspection revealed the forgery. The ersatz O’Neal, for example, claimed to be sending tweets from the bench during a game — a virtual impossibility. That was the point, said the man who created the account. Ward Andrews, the 33-year-old Suns fan behind ShaquilleONeal, said he included the occasional outlandish claim as a tip-off. “All the longtime followers, over 500 followers, they know it’s a joke,” said Andrews, who owns a Phoenix design and marketing agency. “I really didn’t have any intent to pull people’s leg. It was just to entertain.”

Shaq Ejected For Stuckey Foul

Hooped Up | November 17, 2008

In the last three games the Suns have played, their has been a total of three Suns ejected.  The latest one came last night in the contest between the Phoenix and Detroit, when referees sent Shaquille O’Neal packing after what was deemed a flagrant-2 foul on Rodney Stuckey. To me it looks like Shaq is playing the ball but misjudged Stuckeys angle of approach but Shaq’s explanation is way better as he had this to say “If you understand physics like I do, anytime that you come in there out of control like that and run into a brick wall, you are going to get that effect.”

Shaq just dropped Stuckey and science!

Nash Suspended For Being A Pacifist

Hooped Up | November 14, 2008

Today the NBA handed down suspensions for the Rockets versus Suns brawl that happened a few nights ago and the punishment list reads as such according to the San Francisco Gate. Alston and Barnes two games without pay and one for Nash. The league also fined Shaquille O’Neal $35,000 and Tracy McGrady $25,000.

If you have a look at the video, Nash was about as violent as Mohandas K. Gandhi. Guess who wishes they got their money’s worth on this one?

Tip of the hat to Ben, on this one.

Amare Has Been Watching Soccer

Hooped Up | November 6, 2008

This kinda flopping would get Amare Stoudemire a red card in any soccer league, unless Tim Donaghy moves to soccer! I can’t believe Vlade Divac let Stoudemire graduate from the “Vlade Divac Big Man Flop Institute” with this piss poor execution! Divac must have been crushing cigarette packs as he rolling over with disgust on his living room floor watching this footage.

Amare went down like he got a headbutt to the chest, a flare thrown at him and had fireworks launched at him (crazy) at the same time ..yes, freakin’ fireworks!!!

My condolences go out to Jeff Foster’s family; at least he went out playing the game he loved…What?  You mean he survived that dunk…and he’s alive…HOLY SH#T!!!

Steve Nash: Vitamin Water Spokesman

Hooped Up | November 4, 2008

Steve Nash is on comedic fire and that streak continued with this string of Vitamin Water commercials I somehow forgot to post.  Soak in the goodness that is Steve Nash the Vitamin Water Spokesman; he’s just like you…but better.

I had some Jambalaya before watching this clip so it can’t be the vodka and cranberry playing tricks on me.  Greg Popovich calls for a hack a Shaq 5 seconds into last nights game between the Spurs and Suns then gives Shaq the ole Fonzie thumbs up from the bench. This is priceless!!

Hooped Up: Phoenix Suns 08-09 Season Preview

Hooped Up | October 29, 2008

A team-by-team preview of all 30 NBA teams heading into the 2008 - 2009 season, Hooped Up style.

Phoenix Suns
On paper this team is amazing! Steve Nash and Shaquille O’Neal are muti MVP winners, Grant Hill and Amare Stoudemire have each won the Rookie of the Year award, Leandro Barbosa won Sixth Man of the year and Boris Diaw won the Most Improved Player award. With such a decorated squad, you’d think they would be oozing championships but, only the new guy Shaq can speak about that accomplishment and unfortunetly he can’t contribute like he did in the past to get those rings in Phoenix.

The whole team is getting older and if the window is still open, it’s by a crack.

Projected Starters: PG - Steve Nash / SG - Raja Bell / SF - Matt Barnes / PF - Amare Stoudemire / C - Shaquille O’Neal

Additions: Robin Lopez, Goran Dragic, Sean Singletary,Matt Barnes, Louis Amundson

Losses: Brian Skinner, Gordon Giricek, Sean Marks, D.J. Strawberry, Eric Piatkowski, Linton Johnson

Projected Wins: 44+

Team Theme Song:  Kanye West - Stronger
What doesn’t kill this group of vets can only make them stronger. For how strong is the question thought.

Overall
The truth of the matter is that the Suns were a Robert Horry hip check away from a championship in 2007 and that might have been the last real chance. They went more halfcourt by dumping Mike D’Antoni and Shawn Marion in favor of Terry Porter and Shaquille O’Neal and inserted newly acquired Matt Barnes into the starting line up.  Steve Nash is still one of the best players in the league and will be the engine of this group, and Amare Stoudemire is still on the incline at just 25 years old. This team is so talented but after they blew their chance in 2007, everybody else in the west got better and things instantly got harder.

The playoffs yes, a Championship…probably not but, this is the league were amazing happens so you never know.

Stoudemire Dislocates Pinky

Hooped Up | October 24, 2008

Another reason preseason is about 5 games too long.  These wins count for nothing and the tickets are just as expensive and star players get injured.  Preseaseon sucks!  I just want to watch some real games and listen to The Basketball Jones, is that asking to much Stern?

“Phoenix Suns forward Amare Stoudemire sustained a dislocated left pinky finger in Thursday’s preseason win over the Oklahoma City Thunder 102-93. Stoudemire tallied 17 points before the incident. Stoudemire sustained the injury with 3:45 remaining in the third period. Phoenix said the injury was minor and the All-Star should be ready when the Suns head for San Antonio for their season opener Wednesday.”

Shaq And Hill Want To Buy Magic

Hooped Up | October 23, 2008

More big ticket NBA players should explore this option when it presents itself. It only makes sense and their are not enough former players involved in ownership.

“If DeVos is open to discussing a sale, Hill and O’Neal want to be first in line. If not, the partnership will consider other teams. There’s no way to know which way it will go, not when we’re probably talking the summer of 2010 at the earliest and no one can say for certain where the economy will be headed in two months. Asking prices will change. The financial needs of owners with major investments in non-basketball entities will change.

O’Neal and Hill were always friendly — when Hill was living through one of many injury setbacks with the Magic, Shaq was a Laker and handed over keys to the gym at his house so Hill could use it anytime — and have grown closer since becoming teammates in Phoenix last season. They live a few minutes apart in Orlando.”

Nash To Retire In 2012

Hooped Up | October 6, 2008

If Steve Nash retires in 2012 I can really see him playing for the Knicks.  He loves New York, D’Antoni loves Nash and the Knicks have never been afraid to give a contract to anybody.

“Steve Nash, who has an all-but-guaranteed team option for next season, said he knows he wants to play two more seasons beyond that contract — which would take him through the 2011-12 season and his 38th birthday — and he might play longer if he still feels healthy and passionate about the game. “I know I want to play four more years. That’s my goal, to sign another two-year contract. After that, I’ll evaluate where I am and how I feel,” Nash said. “I know I feel great right now and I think I have a lot left.”
