Vince Carter Traded To The Orlando Magic

Hooped Up | June 25, 2009

Orlando and New Jersey have agreed in principle in a deal that will bring Vince Carter to the Magic and send Tony Battie, Rafer Alston and Courtney Lee to the New Jersey, according to a league source.

The Magic have yet to confirm the deal, but the addition of a scorer in Carter, the trade would seem to end the Magic’s quest to bring back forward Hedo Turkoglu for a long term deal.

The deal also could include Nets’ forward Ryan Anderson. But there might still need to be some maneuvering done because the salaries are way off. Continue »

Vince Carter To Cleveland?

Hooped Up | June 20, 2009

Shaquille O’Neal, Antawn Jamison and now Vince Carter has popped up in trade rumour talks to Cleveland.

The Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed Vince Carter again, sources said. As financial losses mount for New Jersey’s ownership, it appears more likely that the Nets will try to move Carter and the two years and $33.6 million left on his deal. The Nets would have to take Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic in return.

If the Cavs and Nets completed this deal, life for LeBron James becomes easier instantly and for Vince Carter and his legacy things could be looking up. Lets see how this one plays out.

The Nets Are Dangling Harris For Draft Picks

Hooped Up | June 19, 2009

In his first full season in New Jersey Devin Harris emerged as an All Star, averaging 21.3 points per game and nearly 7 assists a night for a 34-win team. Now it looks like the Nets could be willing to part ways with the 26-year old point guard to improve their position in next week’s NBA draft.

According to a report in the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the Memphis Grizzlies have fielded offers for the No. 2 pick in the draft, and the Nets might be willing to part ways Harris for that slot in the draft.

If that deal came together, the Nets would have the second and eleventh picks in the draft. They have no second-round selections.

Devin Da Dude Down Indefinitely

Hooped Up | March 19, 2009

The Nets are on the outside looking in at the 8th seed in the east, and with Devin Harris injured things ain’t looking so good for New Jersey. At least Devin Harris has a hot girlfriend to ease the pain.  The soul crushing and disappointing  pain.

“Devin Harris wasn’t even at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night, and judging by the comments of Nets GM Kiki Vandeweghe, it doesn’t sound as though the All-Star point guard will be able to help the team anytime soon. While neither Vandeweghe nor coach Lawrence Frank would give a timetable for Harris’ return from two separate injuries to his left shoulder, Vandeweghe dismissed any possibility Harris — who was injured Sunday night and has missed two games — could be back for the Nets’ next game, Friday against Miami.”

Served: A Sense Of Nostalgia Gets Got By Carter

Hooped Up | March 9, 2009

Whassup!? All I can say,  is that until last night when Vince Carter went all 2000 on this dunk. I thought the only way I would see a patented Carter windmill jam again was if Doc Brown pulled up in his Delorean and we gunned it to a time where Britney Spears did it again and nobody knew who let the freakin’ dogs out.

Bravo Mr. Carter!

Okay, Devin Harris Is Pretty Good

Hooped Up | February 24, 2009

Honestly, I never though Devin Harris was going to be a good pro when I watched him play for Wisconsin.

When he got drafted by the Dallas Mavericks, I still didn’t see it. After he got traded to the Nets and got proper housed in the UK — again, I still didn’t see it.

Now I gotta say for what Harris does, he’s pretty damn good! Continue »

Blazers Want Vince Carter

Hooped Up | February 18, 2009

The Trail Blazers are looking to make a deal for a small forward and are interested in adding Vince Carter to the their line up.

The proposed deal would have Raef LaFrentz and his expiring contract along with Travis Outlaw and Sergio Rodriguez going to the Nets in exchange for Vince Carter and Sean Williams or Stromile Swift. Channing Frye could also be added to the deal.

Since Rob Babcock isn’t involved in this proposed Carter trade. Eric Williams probably won’t be signed by the Blazers to be included in this deal, to send it over the top for the Nets.

Nets Shopping Carter?

Hooped Up | February 7, 2009

The Nets are working the phones to see what Vince Carter is worth these days and the Spurs might be interested.

“They are contemplating whether Vince puts them over the top in the West, and the key component to any discussion would be Roger Mason ($3.5M) coming East. But the SA payroll is very top-heavy, so that makes it very complicated: They’d have to pile on some contracts to make it add up, and not even throwing in Bruce Bowen ($4.0) and Michael Finley ($2.5) would accomplish that. Still, at least one side believes some creative accounting can get it done (we doubt the Nets would also be able to land George Hill, a kid they like), though it would obviously involve a body count - probably with Bowen/Fin returning to the Alamo after the Nets cut them.”
