The last time the Raptors faced the Lakers in LA, Kobe Bryant missed at the buzzer. However luck was not with Toronto last night in the same situation. With a double-team on the way and just seconds left on the clock, Bryant nailed a 17-footer with 1.9 seconds left snapping the Lakers three-game losing streak with a 109-107 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

If you haven’t been keeping track, this was the sixth game winner Kobe Bryant hit this season. This is of course more proof that Kobe Bryant can’t stop being unstoppable.

Like Old Yeller, Ron Artest took his blonde hairdo into the woods and shot it — dead. After creating a Pamela Anderson / Dennis Rodman type buzz and spiking peroxide and purple sales worldwide to start the week. Artest decided to shave his golden locks, however the purple writing that says defense in Japanese, Hebrew and Hindi remains.

And now so ends that and with the visiting Toronto Raptors on the schedule tonight, the Lakers hope their losing streak does too.

Ron Artest went positively Rodman / Demolition Man against the Orlando Magic and no he didn’t grab 20 rebounds, kick a camera man, date Madonna or agree to do a cheesy flick starring Sylvester Stallone, but he did dye his hair blonde and to make it Rodman 2.0 like, had the word “defense” shaved into his hairdo in three different languages — Japanese, Hebrew and Hindi in purple.

So far with the new look the Lakers are 0-1, however my Japanese, Hebrew and Hindi reading has vastly improved.

If there was a classed called “Guarding Kobe Bryant 101″, the first thing you would learn is that even when Kobe Bryant is covered, he’s open. If that concept is hard to grasp, just think of Kobe like Brian Fantana’s Sex Panther cologne by Odeon that 60% of the time,  works every time.

Clearly Duke University did not offer this class or rookie Gerald Henderson, skipped it.

Lakers re-establish swagger against Denver
Only the Lakers, content to be good rather than great in typical behavior for a defending champion, can decide when they’ll bring their best and make a stand.

They made their choice and their stand in the second half Sunday at Staples Center, pushing back the Denver Nuggets, 95-89. The Nuggets were eliminated by the Lakers the past two postseasons but then won the first two regular-season meetings between the teams.

With a defense led by Ron Artest against Denver star Carmelo Anthony, the Lakers held the Nuggets to 37 second-half points and overcame a nine-point halftime deficit. The effort was meant to quell notions that the Nuggets could threaten the Lakers this season.

In his first game back with a still ailing ankle. Kobe Bryant hit a deep 3-pointer with 4.3 seconds left in the game to sink the Memphis Grizzlies.  Kobe haters I’m sure are not impressed, but even they gotta admit that this dude just laughs in the face of pressure.

BTW, he finished with 32 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assist. Ridiculous!
