Biedrins Will Undergo Surgery

Hooped Up | March 9, 2010

The Golden State Warriors say center Andris Biedrins will need to undergo surgery to repair a small tear of an abdominal muscle.

Biedrins was examined Monday by a specialist in Philadelphia who confirmed that he had a sports hernia and the muscle tear. Biedrins will undergo surgery Tuesday. The prognosis for his recovery will be determined after the operation.

Biedrins is averaging 5.0 points and 7.8 rebounds in 33 games this season. If he does not return this season, his 16 percent free throw shooting (4-for-25) would be the worst in NBA history for a player with at least 20 attempts. Read More »

Stephen Curry With Some Show-N-Go

Hooped Up | February 26, 2010

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

For the record, I still really want Brandon Jennings to win Rookie of the Year with Tyreke Evans finishing a close second. However Stephen Curry’s mad increase in numbers has got me thinking twice.

I bet Stephen was using this move on his dad Dell Curry since high school — still works apparently.

Hooped Up | February 24, 2010

If you think you’ll see anything funnier than a Latrell Sprewell fan autograph rejection letter on Golden State Warriors letterhead today. Let me know where you work, because I want to send in a resume to be surrounded with atmosphere like that.

Homer News: Golden State Warriors (15-38)

Hooped Up | February 18, 2010

Golden State Warriors rout Sacramento Kings as C.J. Watson scores career-high 40 points
The win, just No. 15 on the season, was comfortably in hand. Yet just before the Warriors’ 130-98 win over the Sacramento Kings was complete, every player on the bench — including all of the injured players, even guard Raja Bell — was on his feet intensely watching.

And when guard C.J. Watson’s circus left-hand layup rolled in, giving him a career-high 40 points, they went bananas. It was a moment that encapsulated why these players are happy the team is unlikely to make a trade by today’s noon deadline.

“Things are feeling good,” said rookie guard Stephen Curry. “You can tell. Everybody’s smiling, having fun. … Hopefully this whole unit’s going to be back next year.”

Monta Ellis Goes Over The Glass

On his way to a 46 point night against the Dallas Mavericks (and a loss), Monta Ellis excised his “bird rights” of a different nature on the court from behind the glass. I will never tire of watching behind the glass buckets, never!

Anthony Morrow Out 2-4 Weeks

Hooped Up | January 18, 2010

denWarriors guard Anthony Morrow could miss two to four weeks with a sprained MCL in his right knee, but the team said the results of Saturday’s MRI exam won’t be made available until today.

Morrow went down in the opening two minutes of Friday’s 113-104 loss to Milwaukee when Andrew Bogut bowled over Corey Maggette and knocked him into Morrow’s right leg. When Maggette’s head smacked Morrow’s lower leg, Morrow’s foot was planted and his knee buckled from the outside.

The second-year player rode a stationary bike for about 10 minutes before returning for a painful 2:19 in the second quarter. Morrow said he couldn’t go in the second half because his knee was sore and swollen.

Monta Ellis Hits A Ridiculous Trick Shot

I have no idea how many attempts it took Monta Ellis to hit this shot, but by far this is the most difficult trick shot I have seen in a really, really long time. Even the Russian judge gave this shot a perfect score.

Anthony Randolph Might Have A Broken Ankle

Hooped Up | January 9, 2010

Warriors forward Anthony Randolph might miss a significant amount of time after injuring his left ankle on the final play of the first quarter in Friday’s 108-101 win over Sacramento.

After the game, the team announced that X-rays showed Randolph suffered a sprain and a possible fracture. Team sources said the preliminary diagnosis is a fracture and he’d be out four to six weeks. Randolph will have a CT scan today to confirm the initial diagnosis.

Randolph was trying to contest a shot by Sacramento forward Jason Thompson when he landed awkwardly on his ankle. He was down for a couple minutes before being helped off the court and into the locker room. The Warriors announced after the game that the league had granted them another injury exception, and they plan to use it to sign Cartier Martin of the NBA Development League to a 10-day contract.

Warriors Waive Mikki Moore

Hooped Up | January 5, 2010

The Golden State Warriors on Monday waived injured center Mikki Moore, thereby creating the roster room to keep rookie big man Chris Hunter.

The Warriors were granted a special exemption by the league to sign an extra player in November because of a spate of injuries that wiped out nearly half of their 15-man roster. They promptly chose Hunter out of the D-League.

Moore’s $1.3 salary for the season was fully guaranteed, but a heel injury that required Dec. 18 surgery is expected to sideline the 34-year-old into March. Moore still hopes to sign with another team before the end of the season.
