Clippers Get Camby

Hooped Up | July 16, 2008

The Clippers acquired forward Marcus Camby from the Denver Nuggets today, so smile Baron!  In return the Nuggets will have the option to exchange second round picks with the Clippers in 2010.

Getting Camby is a prettah, prettah….prettah good move on the Clippers part.  If they can just add Josh Smith to the mix we are talking LAX flight patrol as both Camby and Smith swat everything!

If they do get Smith I want shares from the LAX flight patrol shirts…no, I’m serious!

Iguodala May Be An Option For Clippers

Hooped Up | July 14, 2008

The Los Angeles Clippers, who lost unrestricted free agent forward Elton Brand to the 76ers last week, are trying to determine which remaining free agent might best fit their needs. And, according to a rumor circulating through the NBA, it could be the Sixers’ Andre Iguodala. The rumor suggested that the Clippers, via coach Mike Dunleavy, already have had contact with Iguodala, who was in Las Vegas Saturday to watch the Sixers’ summer league team play the Denver Nuggets. The contact, though, supposedly came in the days before that game.

Clippers Shifting Focus To Josh Smith?

Hooped Up | July 9, 2008

Will this really happen or is this just to prevent Baron Davis from losing it on the Clippers management?

Scratch Philadelphia from the list of NBA teams pursuing Hawks restricted free agent forward Josh Smith. With Elton Brand out of the picture, the Clippers are suddenly in the market for a forward. Smith is currently in Los Angeles on “business,” according to his agent. Smith was in Philadelphia last week for a visit and was wined and dined by the Sixers, but left town without a verbal agreement to sign an offer sheet.

Kaman To Join German Squad

Hooped Up | July 4, 2008

The 26-year-old Michigan native obtained German citizenship and will play for Germany’s national basketball team alongside Dallas Mavericks forward and German native Dirk Nowitzki in an Olympic qualifying tournament later this month, according to wire reports.

Kaman, a 7-footer who played three seasons at Central Michigan, averaged 15.7 points and 12.7 rebounds last season for the Clippers but sat out the month of April because of an ankle injury.

“We’ll be stronger under the baskets with Chris,” Nowitzki told the Associated Press.

Kaman, whose great-grandparents were German, first talked about possibly playing for Germany during the winter.

He will try to help Germany’s basketball team to its first Olympic appearance since the 1992 games in Barcelona, Spain. The Germany team will head to Athens to participate in a qualifying event July 14 to July 20, where 12 teams will compete for three Olympic berths.

Baron, It’s Time To Come Home

Hooped Up | July 3, 2008

To be a Clippers fan you gotta be dedicated…super dedicated.  So when an all-star guard decides to play for your team what do you do?  Make a song up about it of course.

Baron Davis Is A Clipper

Hooped Up | July 2, 2008

Well…That was easy.  Baron Davis is Stales center bound just hours into free agency.

Baron Davis? Are you kidding me?One of the toughest point guards in a point-guard league, bought for $65 million by a team desperately in need of a point guard? One of the coolest Los Angeles kids, with connections from hellholes to Hollywood, returning home in hip glasses and a nasty crossover?A former UCLA Bruin, who knows Magic Johnson as well as he knows the Eight Clap, coming back to hang out with Adam Sandler?Baron Davis? To the Clippers?

Baron Staying In LA?

Hooped Up | July 1, 2008

B-Diddy might still be in California when the NBA season starts according to the Washington Post.  LA’s other team the Clippers, are interested in acquiring the former all-star and California native.

The word on the street is that Baron Davis, a Los Angeles native, has a deal in place with the Clippers where he would join forces with Elton Brand. According to my sources, Arenas will likely remain a Wizard but the question is whether he will take less than the max in order to help the team remain under the luxury tax threshold (expected to be around $71 million) and help Ernie Grunfeld make more moves.

Brand and Maggette Opt Out

Hooped Up |

Elton Brand and Corey Maggette have told the Los Angeles Clippers they will opt of the final year of their contracts and become free agents.

“We have been notified by Elton Brand and Corey Maggette of each player’s decision to opt out of his respective contract,” Clippers president Andy Roeser said Monday in a statement. “On Monday night, when NBA rules permit, we will be aggressive in contacting them to address our interest in having them remain with the Clippers. We will also be active in contacting other free agents in whom we have interest.”

Maggette Would Welcome A Return To Orlando

Hooped Up | June 30, 2008

This is not really news because who wants to play for the Clippers, if they plan on winning while they are playing in the NBA.  Corey Maggette is the latest Clipper that might be on his way out of losing land. Seriously the Clippers make a strong case for a relegation system in the NBA.

Los Angeles Clippers guard Corey Maggette told friends over the weekend that he was encouraging the Orlando Magic to make a competitive offer in free agency, allowing him to return to the team where he started his NBA career nine years ago. Maggette, 28, averaged 22.1 points last season for the Clippers, where he has spent the last eight seasons as a shooting guard/small forward.
