Evan Turner Gets First Career Triple-Double

For the first time in his five-year career. Multi-talented Boston Celtics forward Evan Turner notched his first career triple-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over the visiting Knicks.

“Smart told me I needed one more assist, and so I said OK, make the shot, and he said you know I will. Ironically, he made the shot,” said Turner, who not so ironically has had many close calls.

“I came (close) to it a lot each season in my career,” said Turner, who became the 10th player in franchise history to record a triple double, joining Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, Jordan Crawford and Ryan Gomes as the only Celts to accomplish the feat in the last decade.

“Sometimes shots didn’t fall. I’m fortunate enough to execute it all the way this time,” said Turner, who believes that Brad Stevens’ free-flowing offense makes this kind of statistic more possible.

“Definitely there’s an opportunity to make more plays and get the assists that I do,” said Turner. “Tonight we were making shots, clicking on all cylinders. That was key.”

This weird C’s stat has final Sports Jeopardy question written all over it. So take note.
