Denver Nuggets Part Ways With George Karl

Denver, y’all crazy for this one. A few weeks after George Karl was named Coach of the Year. Nuggets ownership has decided to not extend his contracted and are instead looking to find an “elite level coach” to replace him. Which is funny because it would seem they are looking for George Karl to replace George Karl.

“With one year left on his contract, Karl was pushing for an extension and ownership was unwilling to make the commitment. With a sense that Denver could be facing a season of acrimony, CEO Josh Kroenke decided to part ways with Karl.”

However, this probably didn’t catch Karl off guard as he had this to says in April about the prospect of winning the award to the Denver Post.

“Coach of the year? I’m not sure I want that legacy,” Karl said Wednesday. “Have you seen what happens to guys who win coach of the year?”

Over the past 10 years with a few exceptions,  a majority of the Coach of the Year winners have been fired shortly thereafter. Go ahead, look it up. The Clippers, Nets, Sixers and a few other teams should be calling Karl right about now-ish. Hopefully he has call waiting. What are you doing Nuggets???
