Tyson Chandler Wins Defensive Player of the Year Award

According to Yahoo! Sports, Tyson Chandler is the Defensive Player of the Year. Last season the Knicks were tied for 27th in the NBA in opponent points per game and with the addition of Chandler at center, they moved to 11th. Trimming 11 points off the 105.7 they yielded in 2010-11.

This season Chandler averaged 11.3 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots while shooting a league high 67.9 percent from the field. Chandler becomes the first Knicks player to win the award and ends the three-year winning streak of Dwight Howard.
