Dirk Nowitzki Celebrates In Germany

Mission accomplished! The Most Valuable Player of the finals Dirk Nowitzki returned to a hero’s welcome in his hometown of Wurzburg, Germany as a champion by about 3,000 eager fans that chanted “MVP, MVP.” Wunderbar indeed!

As Nowitzki entered the arena where he helped DJK Wuerzburg win promotion to the Bundesliga back in 1997. He received a standing ovation before he fielded some questions from fans and over 140 journalists for more than an hour.

“I had not expected this and I won’t forget this day for the rest of my life.” said Nowitzki of the event.

Then is was off to sign the “golden book” in the city hall. Before he addressed more fans from the impressive Würzburg Residence balcony. Once all the PG stuff was over, Nowitzki was driven by motorcade to an outdoor party in his honor that was expected to draw 15,000 fans.

It looked like a pretty good time.
