Dirk Agrees To Stay In Dallas

The though of Dirk Nowitzki in another uniform hurts my brain to even imagine and I’m sure it hurts his brain too. So to avoid starting the ’10-11 season in a new uniform on the injured reserve list with ‘brain hurt’, Dirk Nowitzki has agreed to re-up with the Dallas Mavericks.

According to ESPN, Nowitzki’s new contract is a reported four-year $80 million deal with a no trade clause which is $16 million less than the $96 million maximum contract Nowitzki was eligible to receive.

“I think it’s a great deal, Geschwindner [Nowitzki’s adviser] said. We’re pumped. We did not know (if he would re-sign),” Geschwindner said. “We had a bunch of options. Finally, he agreed. Dirk agreed with Mark, one-on-one.”

By accepting less, Nowitzki is hoping the Mavericks will be able to lure another free agent to join Dallas’ core group of Jason Terry, Jason Kidd and Nowitzki.
