Buy Your Miami HEAT Seats, In 3-D

Hooped Up | June 30, 2010

Damn son! Technology is really technologying these days! Way back in the day, like four weeks ago. Buying tickets online to a Heat game was a straight up 2-D affair (boring) but that was then. Now, if you want to buy tickets online to see Dwyane Wade house people for 48 minutes via HEAT.com, you’ll have access to a real time seat inventory system to get the best / most affordable seats in the house.

But wait, there’s more (Steve Jobs dramatic pause) you’ll also be able to experience sightlines with an enhanced 3-D seat viewer too and that my friends, is way north of awesome.

Next week, the Miami Heat will unveil D-Wade signature hover cars.

Doc Rivers Is Coming Back

Hooped Up | June 30, 2010

Fret not Celtics nation, Doc Rivers will pick up the fight for at least one more season in Boston and will not opt out of his contract.

“I’m coming back,” he said in a text message, The Boston Globe reported. “I want another crack at it with this group.”

Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and a few other core Celtics have tough decisions to make this summer starting tonight when the free agency madness hits at 12pm EST. But if Doc is staying on board to guide the C’s ship, odds are they’ll be sticking around to ‘get another crack’ at it too because right now they are still the second best team in the NBA.

And I don’t imagine it gets much better than the locker room feel Boston provides for veteran ballers.

Rivers was considering a sabbatical from coaching to spend more time with his kids, but I guess between iChat, Skype, revenge — plus the millions he’ll be making. The family will be just fine.

Freshly Dipped: Gourmet 151 Pieces

Hooped Up | June 30, 2010

So you never heard of Gourmet before right? Well, keep sitting at my cafeteria table you’ll learn who they are and you might even get a bite of the most delicious Lobster Parmesan sandwich your stomach has ever seen too.

Based on their love jone for really good Italian food. The might, yet indie Gourmet brand was founded by Greg Johnsen, Jon Buscemi and Gregg Lucci. All these guys do, is cook up excellence in the kitchen and on your feet.

In this video they did for Frank151, you’ll get to know the brand that will make you hungry for more and you’ll also get the meanest recipe for a Lobster Parmesan sandwich EVAH! If I could wear a pair of Uno’s while eating their food, I’d totally scrap my Weight Watchers points tally for the day.

Mmmmmm…Unoooo’s!

Ron Artest Does Chelsea Lately

Hooped Up | June 30, 2010

NBA champions usually end up on few talk shows because well — they can, and the ones that have an awesome personality end up on a lot of talk shows. So expect to see mad Ron Artest appearances while the Larry O’Brien is still warm. The last stop on the Artest champ tour was Chelsea Lately and Artest was momentarily sober and at his Ronniest as usual.

My favorite part of this interview is at the 2:35 mark were it looks like Chelsea is interviewing the dirty right sock of Ron Artest. Sorry, I mean the dirty right champion sock of Ron Artest. The sight of his foot kinda threw her off her talk show game for a sec and it was awkward hilarious which is my favorite kinda hilarious.

You’ll really have to turn up your speakers to hear this interview because the loudness of Ron-Ron’s pants messes with lapel microphone audio. Also, watch out for Ron-Ron’s tee, it bites!

Nets Trade Yi Jianlian To The Wizards

Hooped Up | June 30, 2010

Do you guys remember when Yi Jianlian entered to draft and he was all like dudes I only wanna play for a team in a big market blah, blah, blah?

Well, it’s been three years since he was drafted and he’s now on his third team since the Nets traded him to the Wizards for Quinton Ross. Normally that’s bad, but since basketball in China is exploding in popularity on a Justin Bieber level with 14-year olds. Landing Yi could mean more dolla, dolla, bills ya’ll for the Wiz.

“It’s the Great Wall of Chinatown,” Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld said, before being informed that the team’s top draft pick already has assumed that nickname. The addition of Yi does open up opportunities in China for the Wizards.

“I don’t think we’re concerned about the marketing aspect,” Grunfeld said. “I think we’re much more concerned with the player that we’re getting. [Yi] may not have found the right situation, but he’s put up some good numbers and he’s had some good experience. Our plan all along is to get young players, build with the draft, and this fits into our plan.”

Combined with addition of rookie John Wall and the demand to see some Yi in China. The opportunity to watch the Wizards play in primetime slots, is going to be on the rise which ultimately means more money. This season Yi averaged a career high 12 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in 52 appearances.

The 3rd Annual Showdown In Chinatown

Hooped Up | June 30, 2010

The 3rd annual Showdown In Chinatown put together by Steve Nash took place in NYC last week when he returned from his World Cup duties in South Africa for CBS Sports and as usual it looked like a blast and once again I missed out on all the football goodness (small tear).

Baller, actors, entertainers and real footy ballers like Anthony LaPaglia, Mike Quadrino, Francesco, Giovanni Iovine, Simone Sandri, Simone Motta, Brandon Jennings, Tony Parker, Giuseppe Rossi, Raja Bell, Claudio Reyna, Marc Stein, Jared Dudley, Richie Williams, Nate Robinson (who misses his Claire Bear), Jeremy Hall, Danleigh Borman, Sinisa Ubiparipovic, and Youri Djorkaeff.

Were all on hand to support the event that raises funds for The Steve Nash Foundation, and giving to charity never looked so much fun. What’s really cool about donating to this good charity, is that you can get a free t-shirt if you make a donation of $40 or more. So it’s a real win, win. Next year I plan on not missing this event — I hope.

More Showdown In Chinatown goodness after the jump.

Outlet Pass: Trading Melo?, Blazers Want Ferry + GM Charles Barkley

Hooped Up | June 30, 2010

The Nuggets are pressing Carmelo Anthony for a long-term commitment, because if he declines a three-year, $65 million contract extension now on the table, the team must consider trading its leading scorer.

Trade Melo? Would the Nuggets really part ways with a 26-year-old forward in the prime of his NBA career? Denver might not have any choice.

With an eye on how megastars LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have held the league’s competitive balance in their fickle hands and turned this summer’s free-agency period into a three-ring circus, the Nuggets seem determined not to let Anthony do the same in Denver.
