Mavs Interested In Joe Johnson?

/

A combination of Joe Johnson and Dirk Nowitzki on the same team would be an underachieving franchise’s match made in heaven — so the possibly of the Dallas Mavericks adding Johnson along side of The Diggler (if he stays) makes too much sense because it so wouldn’t work.

If Dirk Nowitzki bolts Dallas, one might reasonably wonder how the Mavericks might actually be better in 2010-11. Depends on who they put around him, as always. Dirk is too valuable to trade. I don’t think you could get his value in return. For all his perceived weaknesses — poor defense, not tough enough — he’s still a top 10 player in the league. They simply have to add a player who’s a marquee talent. I like Joe Johnson for the backcourt. But to get him, they’ll have to let Dampier go, and that means they’ll have to add another center to go with Haywood. With Dirk, you have to have big men who can play defense and rebound. It’s a delicate mix.

Adding Johnson to the mix in Dallas would be pretty awesome to watch because the Mavs would score a billion points per game and then lose in the first round all over again.

This is just speculation, but I could see the Mavericks pulling the trigger on this kinda deal. For whatever reason I have a strong feeling that Chris Bosh will end up in Dallas, but since Johnson might have played himself into a slight drop in value, this postseason.

Maybe A trio of Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh and Dirk Nowitzki failing spectacularly is a possibility too.
