Outlet Pass: Suns Beat OKC, Tito Jackson + Blazing Thornton
Hooped Up | February 24, 2010
Jason Richardson’s basket from the foul line with 0.7 seconds left completed the Suns’ rally from a 10-point deficit in the final 3 1/2 minutes, and Phoenix snapped Oklahoma City’s nine-game winning streak with a 104-102 victory Tuesday night.
Amare Stoudemire scored 30 points and Richardson had 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Suns, who were without two-time MVP Steve Nash, sidelined by back and abdominal injuries. Kevin Durant scored 36 points for the Thunder.

Michael Beasley wants to be clear on this: His name is not Tito Jackson, and he would like TNT analyst top refrain from saying so. Barkley, the outspoken NBA analyst and Hall of Fame player, has referred to the Miami Heat as Michael Jackson (that would be Dwyane Wade) and a bunch of Titos, Michael’s brother and a background member of the famed Jackson 5 singing group. What Barkley really means is the rest of the Heat is comprised of relative unknowns. “It’s just disrespectful,” Beasley said. “Not disrespectful to Tito Jackson. The way Charles worded it, it makes us feel a little disrespected.”

In front of a crowd used to seeing LeBron James dominate opponents at Quicken Loans Arena, New Orleans Hornets rookie shooting guard Marcus Thornton upstaged the reigning league MVP and current scoring leader Tuesday night.
Thornton set a franchise record with a 23-point second quarter before finishing with a game- and career-high 37 on 15-of-22 shooting. Despite his career night, Thornton still ended up on the losing end as the Cleveland Cavaliers closed out the fourth quarter with a flurry to defeat the Hornets 105-95 before 20,562.
