Sheed Warned To Keep Quiet

Hooped Up | December 31, 2009

Bad news for the NBA. Rasheed Wallace is getting the Tim Donaghy book. “I want to check it out and see what’s there,” Wallace said last night.

Wallace already has been fined once for criticizing referees this season ($30,000), and as reported in Tuesday’s Herald, he lucked out on another occasion when the league didn’t want to bring more attention to the claims of Donaghy, the former official convicted of gambling.

Celts GM Danny Aingepassed on word to Wallace from the NBA that he should watch his critical statements, but the forward won’t bow to the request.

“Either way they’re going to get me,” Wallace said. “If I don’t say nothing I’m going to get fined, and if I say something I’m going to get fined. So I might as well say something about what’s on my mind, what I want to say. They’re going to hit me up either way.

Artest On The Mend

Hooped Up | December 30, 2009

Lakers forward Ron Artest stood before the media Tuesday night and faced a barrage of questions seeking an explanation for how he suffered a concussion Friday that has forced him to miss the last three games. Artest said he was walking into his Beverly Hills home after the Christmas Day game against Cleveland and fell down a flight of stairs.

Artest said his wife, Kimsha, found him asleep outside their home and that he didn’t know who she was. Artest said his wife had to explain to him that the Lakers had played a game Friday at Staples Center.

Artest went to the UCLA Medical Center emergency room, where he had staples put into the back of his head and received stitches in his elbow, which also was injured in the fall.

Served: Josh Smith Gets Got By Delonte West

Hooped Up | December 30, 2009

Josh Smith is an athlete of scary abilities and he rarely ever gets dunked on. So when Delonte West crowned him, I don’t blame him for getting a tech for taunting. Heck, if I dunked on Josh Smith like that I would grab the announcers mic and drop a freestyle about it while LeBron danced in the background.

Note to self, buy jump soles.

Tinsley Takes It To The Black Top

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Until last nights Wizards vs. Grizzlies game, the last time I watched a game from tip-off to final buzzer was on Xmas day. Too bad for Christmas, Andray Blatche never got some fundamental defense from good ole Saint Nick.

At least Jamaal Tinsley proved him with a late gift of a trip to Rucker Park.

Outlet Pass: T-Mac Leaves, Nate Rob Fined + Da Bulls

Hooped Up | December 29, 2009

Tracy McGrady’s tenure with the Rockets, which began with predictions of multiple championships and “great things happening in the city of Houston,” is likely over after six seasons of highlights, controversies and great, but largely unrealized potential.

With Rockets coach Rick Adelman unable to predict when McGrady will get significant playing time, McGrady’s representatives Monday asked that the Rockets trade McGrady, according to a person with the Rockets with knowledge of the decision.

Rockets general manager Daryl Morey agreed Monday to try to trade McGrady during talks with McGrady’s representatives.

Morey declined comment Monday. McGrady, 30, was granted an indefinite leave of absence while the Rockets seek a trade. A person with knowledge of the Rockets’ talks said no trade is imminent but added the Rockets had not been aggressive in seeking a deal, a stance that likely will change.

Last night, when it finally computed to the Lakers faithful that there team was really getting stomped by the visiting Cavaliers. The impatient and evenly tanned LA fans at Staples Center started to re-gift there foam fingers that probably said “Lakers are #1″ on mass.

Irony!
