Top 5: Best Point Guards In ‘09-10
Hooped Up | October 27, 2009A new season is fast approaching and you need you know, nay — you demand to know! Who’s the best at each position in the league on a nightly basis in the ‘09-10 NBA season. So with your mind and excel sheet ablaze trying to figure out that riddle to no end. I’ve decided to take one for the team, by putting together a list of the Top 5 players in the league by position heading into the ‘09-10 NBA season.
Up next and last , the point guard spot.
5. Gilbert Arenas
08-09 Stats: 13.0 PPG / 10 APG / 4.5 RPG / 0.0 SPG / 26.1% FG%
Ya, I said it! What!?!? Gilbert Arenas is still one of the best point guards in the league and if he’s 90% health, and he’ll put up the numbers to prove it. But with three knee surgery’s in the span of about 18 months, things could either go way up for Agent Zero in 09-10 or way down. Good thing I’m a glass half full guy.
4. Tony Parker
08-09 Stats: 22.2 PPG / 6.9 APG / 3.1 RPG / 0.9 SPG / 50.6% FG%
L’Année passé Tony Parker a jouéhris très bien and this year you can expect more of the same from TP. Of course Tim Duncan is still the ending and the beginning for the Spurs success, but Parker might be the difference maker in another Spurs championship.
3. Steve Nash
08-09 Stats: 15.7 PPG / 9.7 APG / 3.0 RPG / 0.7 SPG / 50.3% FG%
Make sure when you talk about the age of the former two-time MVP make sure you use the word “just” before you say he’s 35. Look, John Stockton was wicked awesome when he was 40 and Nash has many years before he hits that number. Plus with the Suns back to an up tempo game sans Shaq, Nash should look circa 07-08.
2. Deron Williams
08-09 Stats: 19.4 PPG / 10.1 APG / 2.9 RPG / 1.1 SPG / 47.1% FG%
Every year this dude gets better and that trend should continue in 09-10. He’s always been just shy of averaging 20 and 10 and this year it’ll happen, or I’ll eat my hat — made of pizza.
1. Chris Paul
08-09 Stats: 22.8 PPG / 11 APG / 5.5 RPG / 2.8 SPG / 50.3% FG%
Shocked? Surprised? Probably not. This guy is a monster with a smile and if he improves on last years campaign, he’ll be in the MVP conversation again. Even if he gets James-ed out of the MVP race, the Defensive Player of the Year award could be a lock for CP3.

Lovely listing. Top to button listing is nicely arranged.
