Suns Sign Alvin Gentry To New Coaching Deal

Gentry and the Suns agreed to the outline of a two-year, $3.7 million contract that will be finalized Monday or Tuesday.

The deal, which includes a team option for a third year, fulfills the front office’s and players’ wishes for Gentry to remain head coach after his 18-13 stint.

It was also the 54-year-old coach’s wish to stay in Phoenix, just as he chose to remain on the Suns staff last year rather than follow former Suns coach Mike D’Antoni to New York.
