A Few More Miles And Running For Darius

Hooped Up | January 31, 2009

According to The Memphis Edge, Darius Miles will officially remain with the Memphis Grizzlies for the rest of the season. Miles was originally signed by the Grizzlies on December 13th, 2008 but then made his comeback debut in January after sitting out 10 games because of a suspension.

A few days after his debut, Miles was released and then two days later was resigned again by the Grizzlies to a 10-day contract to screw the Blazers royally (what’s… it true).

Then after two 10-day contracts, Miles was signed by the Grizzlies yesterday to make their Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson like relationship official.

The Knicks Get No Salary-Cap Exception Love

Hooped Up | January 31, 2009

Have you ever bought a broken item, fully knowing that it’s broken and then when you get home and try to use that item, be surprised that it’s broken? Well, the Knicks sure have!

“The Knicks’ appeal to get a disabled player salary-cap exception for Cuttino Mobley, which would not only have given them a nearly $4.5 million cap slot immediately to use either in a deal or to sign another player, but get his salary (for this season and next) off their cap and enable them to take him off their roster, was denied by the NBA late Friday, team president Donnie Walsh said Saturday morning. The league, Walsh said, essentially determined that Mobley’s heart condition, which forced him to retire shortly after the Knicks acquired him from the Clippers on Nov. 21, but with which he had played before that this season, was a pre-existing condition.”

Kobe Bryant Loves Him Some FC Barcelona

Hooped Up | January 31, 2009

I’ve already made the comparison between David Beckham and Kobe Bryant in the past and after his recent photoshoot with ESPN magazine, the comparison got a wee bit closer. Kobe Byrant put on a FC Barcelona kit and had some fun with a group of FC Barcelona fans on a Los Angeles pitch somewhere for the ESPN Fan Issue and he looked match fit. Lionel Andrés Messi doesn’t have to worry about his job yet….but lets just say if Bryant wanted to play football, being 6′6″ with gazelle like leaping ability and speed to spare wouldn’t hurt his case to play in La Liga. Wallace Released From Hospital

Hooped Up | January 31, 2009

After suffering a partially collapsed lung and fractured rib earlier this week, at the hands or elbow of Andrew Bynum. According to the National Post, Gerald Wallce has been released from the Hospital yesterday, but he still must get clearance from a cardio-thoracic surgeon before flying. The earliest that could happen is during a Monday examination.

Wallace was leveled by Andrew Bynum Thursday night in what proved to be a  117-110 Bobcats upset victory but what appeared as a fine worth flagrant foul, the NBA deemed otherwise and Bynum was not be fined despite the Bobcats protest.

Check out the play for yourself after the jump and decide for yourself. I say, book him Danno!

Perkins Ejected In Celtics 10th Straight Victory

Hooped Up | January 31, 2009

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

To say the intensity levels between the top teams in the NBA is high right now, would be an understatement! As proof, watch as Kendrick Perkins tries a one-hand bulldog Jason Maxiell with 5:56 left in the game between the visiting Celtics and Pistons. This classic wrestling maneuver attempt, earned Perkins an ejection and a flagrant-2 foul for his troubles.

However, Boston did still manage to win their 10th straight victory 86-78, but their is no word on whether Perkins will get a shot at the current Intercontinental champ Andrew Bynum.

WAG’s: Rashad McCants And Khloe Kardashian Break Up

Hooped Up | January 31, 2009

Rashad McCants is shooting 36% from the field this season for the Timberwolves. But he’s now shooting 0% from the field with celebrity girlfriend Khole Kardashians heart, after the couple decided to call it quits on a crazy little game called love. I know, I thought this romance would last forever or at least until the summer too.

But sadly, all Hollywood stories must come to and end and who knows…there could be a sequel with the right financing.

Below is an actual post from Khole Kardashians blog regarding their break up, try not to sob it kills me to see you cry. Read More »

Chris Bosh Is An Enthusiastic All-Star

Hooped Up | January 30, 2009

Chris Bosh waited like we did to find out he was named an all-star and I’m glad his reaction to the news is genuine and he didn’t feed us the same standard sound bites, we hear every year.

Freeze the clip above at (0:09) and that’s what an excited all-star looks like.

Congrats, CB4!

Où est Leandro?

Leandro Barbosa looks like Ed Jovanovski of the Phoenix Coyotes with one skate on trying to guard Tony Parker in this clip.  Averaging 28.3 points per game against the Suns this season, Parker has his wallet in one of his back pockets and the Phoenix Suns in the other.

Save The Fan From NBA All-Star Voting Please

Hooped Up | January 30, 2009

I’m not crazy about the NASA math-lottery project that is the NBA All-Star roster selection process and I really think the NBA should just pick the entire All-Star squad themselves and spare us the confusing leftover numbers of the “vote”. In most cases, the typical fan needs to be saved from themselves and in the end the NBA picks the team anyway.

I have no problem with the starters selected because an idiot couldn’t have messed that up, but here are some of the leftover numbers that really bug me! Read More »
