Did the same thing as whoopDscfonck played the 2k9 demo and bought live, even though I’ve always been a 2k fan. It´s was mainly the FIRST impression graphics that made me chose.

Now I have sold Live and bought 2k9 and don´t regret a bit. Just to say once you get used to 2k the gameplay graphics are actually better than live, the animations are better, it looks more like a game you watch on tv + the players are actually heave, so if you bump into one they actually fall or you yourself get thrown to the floor. As Live goes on that point in most situations you just fly straight through the Defence player and dunk the basket – and i hated those errors flying through a D´s arm, you would think Shaq isn´t just made of thin air.

I do agree that the cut scene graphics in 2k9 stink big time and it´s such a shame they didn´t put some more work into that aspect.

I´m not in anyway disrespecting Live it is a fun game just not realistic B-Ball feel. The online is better in Live though love that you can actually join a team and do tryouts online (be a pro) I really think 2k is missing that.

I would own both if i had the time and patience to be good at two b-ball games, but won’t play Live’s single player and that means that i would stink online.

I own 2k9 and love it, but now i’m actually gonna buy Live 09 cause i want it for the online play. Every time i go online with 2k9 it’s laging and it’s imposible to play a desent game. Also i think the structure and ranking system in live is so much better.

Im english and i know nothing about Bball, but i love it. judging on these comments, im gonna buy LIVE 09 because it sounds easier for an inexperienced player.

Here’s my advice, i own both.

If you wanna play online and like to have a team with your buddies and rank up with that team go with NBA LIVE.

The BE A PRO in LIVE, offline is limited to one match so you can’t play a whole season. But the cool thing you can do Club Try Outs online and then you rank up by playin BE A PRO.

If you want a deep simulator a play offline season go for 2k9. The online i haven’t had a good experience with. A lot of Lag and you can only play single team matches which is not ranked.

    Hope that helps your decision.

i got 2k9 the other day. i immediately started playin online, it was difficult as hell. i felt like when i first started playing COD. there is so many freaking movements….ways to do everything….and most of the movements didn’t correlate with what you were pushing or toggling. i played for 4 hours and i still have no clue what i am doing. also it seemed the gameplay was slow as hell. it was like i was playing with a handicapped girls team. i like speed…and being able to drive, dish, and shoot quickly. you pass to someone under the bucket and it takes them 3 seconds to shooot.. and forget about alleyooping.

Yeah nba live is much better in it’s online play. 2k is so slow and most of the time lagging so it’s difficult to play a good game. To bad cause the single player plays really well.

Nba 2k9 is monster in comparing with live series, it’s the best basketball game on the planet. If you have high end pc specs it just looks amazing + the most important thing(gamplay) if 100 years infront of nba live 2009.

Ever since I started playing 2K basketball… live doesn’t compare… and i used to be an EA sports fanatic. Just like you one here, unwilling to give 2k a shot… once you do there is not even a decision to make..

Hey if you read through this you’ll actually see most people argue against both. I’m a 2k fan too and own both, but the truth is that LIVE this year is actually fairly deep once you give it some time and find out how it works.

Yes 2k has the better gameplay still i won’t argue on that but live have done really really well this year and i’m sure next year it’s gonna be even better.

Graphics go to live this year but must say animations are better in 2k. Announcer credit goes to 2k – Live is more repetitive with the speakers.

Online LIVE is the one that shines big time and there 2k really disappoint me this year and i’m sorry for that cause that’s the reason i have 2 basket games. I’m simply not able to play 2k online without it lagging or being extremely slow.

So i think bottom line is, if you planning on spending most time online go for Live if you play single player season go for 2k.

Graphics go to live this year but must say animations are better in 2k. Announcer credit goes to 2k – Live is more repetitive with the speakers.

I bought 2k9 for xbox 360 and I think 2k9 is way better than live because in 2k9 you can do better crossover moves and its more realistic game. I played both of these games and 2k9 have more teams in it. Also, I’ll say that fallout 3 is the best roleplaying games in the world and xbox 360 is the better than ps3!!! People LISTEN TO ME!!!

i don’t know what the big deal is!
ITS OBVIOUS THAT NBA 2K9 IS A WAY BETTER GAME!!!
you guys keep talking about how nba lives graphics are better… NO THEY’RE NOT!!! on live everyone has the same bony arms, but on 2k9, everyone has thier ACTUAL body proportion.
nd live is to sketchy. it just doesn’t flow like 2k9 does

    NBA 2K9

IN MY OPINION I THINK IS A BETTER GAME BECAUSE OF NOT JUST IST GRAPHICS BUT THE GAMEPLEY, MOMENTUM, AND THE OUTSTANDING DEFENSE O YEA AND ALSO THE BALL CONTROL.MAY OF U PEOPLE SAY U WERE ALWAYS 2K FANS BUT SERIOUSLY NOBODY EVEN PLAYED 2K 4 REAL THATS Y IT WAS ONLY 20 OR 30 DOLLARS BACK THEN BUT FINALLY 2K HAS ALWAYS BEEN ADVANCED BUT NOT REALLY BETTER THAN LINE. SO I WOULD GIVE 2K A 8.0 RATING AND LIVE 09 A 8.5 OR 9.0

If you play live over 2k of graphics your a fucking retard because graphics are nuthing of a game has to do wit graphics it is one tiny thing real gamers play to hsve thd best exprincee which takes a while to learn on 2k. But if you wanna play for graphics play live but you wount be long tell you throw controller at the wall of 2 hours of pratince in the academy when your lilbrother beats you by 20!! NO SKILL AT ALL!!!!!!!!! 2K all day look at gamespot man

I would say 2k has the best graphics no doubt. At first glance live looks better but once you start to compare the games and also a real game on tv you see which game shines. Live the players body mass are way off they are to thin and bony compared to real life. In live all the player move the same and shoot the same. There only one way to drive to the basket and collisions are awful. In 2k every player has their own signature moves and the really look real. If you watch games on tv you see how spot on 2 k are with the moves. Every player shoots different and driving to the basket is tottaly awesome you can change the shot in mid air and collisions are pretty real.

I do really look forward to see what the two companies will come up with in the 10 edition. Can’t wait and must say I’m probably gonna buy both unless live is like this years edition.
