Smith laughed off a report that he was close to acquiring New Jersey Nets star guard Vince Carter in exchange for power forward Darko Milicic, small forward Hedo Turkoglu and rookie J.J. Redick. Speculation has been rampant all season that Carter is interested in playing for the Magic because he is from Daytona Beach and has a summertime home in Orlando. He can be a free agent at season’s end and he might consider the Magic this summer.”
